Where's My Happily Ever After?

Violence Isn't The Answer; It's The Solution!

“Oh my God...” I couldn’t help but reach out and touch Jasper’s face to see if this was all real.

I also couldn’t help but notice that he leaned towards my touch, a small smile gracing his lips. His gorgeous, perfect lips...

Oh, shit! No! I loved Edwin! I...

“Goddamn, Jade!” my love hissed, jerking me away from Jasper and shoving me behind him.

“Let go of her!” I heard Jasper scream.

Then Edwin was knocked from me. I watched in shock as my fiancé tumbled to the floor, cursing at the floor. I glanced over to Jasper, who was staring at his fist with a satisfied smile on his face.

“Jasper, you... You always told me violence just makes things worse,” I whispered, fighting the urge to run to him.

“I used to tell you a lot of things. I was wrong,” he murmured in my ear, suddenly right beside me.

And yet, he was torn from me by the hormonal man that just so happened to be the father of my children. As I watched Edwin beat the living hell out of Jasper, I couldn’t help but realize how much I wanted to scream at my lover and tell him to leave Jasper alone. But when Jasper had knocked Edwin to the ground I hadn’t exactly been thinking about ripping out his throat.

“Jasper! Stop this!” Quinn croaked suddenly, coughing soon after.

Jasper immediately threw Edwin off of him and darted to Quinn’s side, taking her hand in his.

“I’m sorry,” he murmured, smiling. And Nathan just smiled down at Quinn too, knowing full well that Jasper’s politeness was entirely called for since Quinn was essentially Jasper’s mother.

Edwin jerked me to his side, carelessly wiping some blood from his mouth and glaring daggers at Jas.

“Quinn, please. What happened back at the house?” Nathan whispered, kissing Quinn’s cheek softly. A pained smile formed on her pale, cold lips.

“I don’t know. I was getting ready to make the bed and all of a sudden the window just...exploded! I almost had a heart attack I was so surprised, but I got over it. But then I felt these eyes on me. I turned around and...” Quinn suddenly cried out, screaming at Nathaniel to hold her and never let go. He willingly listened.

“That man!” she shrieked, bawling. “He just suddenly pulled out a dagger and tried to slit my throat! He missed and got my arm, but... It burned like hell, Nathan! It felt like my skin was being ripped clean off! I screamed as loud as I could, but I started getting dizzy. That cut hurt so badly, and I couldn’t keep my focus. I don’t know when I passed out, but it wasn’t soon enough... That man looked familiar, but I couldn’t quite place my finger on him. I surely have seen him around somewhere...”

I felt tears streaming down my face. How would you feel if you found out that your best friend had almost died? I turned to Edwin and buried my face in his chest, bawling as he gently wrapped his arms around me.

“Baby, maybe we should go?” he whispered softly in my ear, chafing my shoulder. I could hardly nod. “Quinn, we’ll meet you back at your place, alright? We need to go find Monique and... Avery.”

I glanced up at him through teary eyes, smiling as much as I could. He smiled back, but it seemed so pained as he kissed me softly.

But why didn’t I kiss him back?

I'm sorry that I haven't updated in forever. The internet has been down. Other than that, I just haven't been in the mood to write, though I love it with all of my heart. This feeling is simply dreadful, I can assure you, but please bear with me. I promise that I will update tomorrow.
