Midnight Runner
Chapter 10: Reason.
We reached the end of the first part of the woods. “Everyone ready?!” Sam shouted back taking off his shirt. “Yah!” Almost everyone howled back in unison. “So you guys are going to strip in front of me!?” I wined closing my eyes. “Well we don’t want to rip our cloths.” Jacob said putting me on the ground. “It will be over soon but your going to have to ride on my back.” He said throwing his pants on the ground. “Yes, yes I know.” I sighed steadily opening my eyes to see that all the naked guys were now huge wolves that held their cloths in their mouth.
Jacob nudged me with his cold wet nose. While he motioned his head over to his back. “You want me to get on?” I got up from the ground as he nodded his head up and down. “Ahh, Jake this is weird.” I sighed walking up to his back shaking my head in disappointment. I breathed in deeply then held it as I jumped onto his back hoping that I wasn’t too heavy. “Am I heavy?” I leaned over as I saw him shake his head from side to side. “Ok, good.” I tilted my body into his fur as I grabbed a handful in both my hands as he ran.
The wind rushed through my hair and his fur as I saw different things pass by rather fast. The thing that bothered me was why these guys decided to take me? What was I too them? I didn’t even know who they were until now. Thoughts had swirled in my head like a tornado waiting to explode on the town.
Hours later. The wind had stopped and I could feel that the atmosphere had a total different feel to it. I looked up to see the place that held all my memories. “Home!” I sighed in relief leaping off Jake’s back as they turned back to their human form putting on their pants. “Ugh, my neck.” Jacob rubbed his neck from side to side. “So I was heavy?” I put my head down to the ground. “No, I’m kidding.” He laughed patting my back.
We sat in Emily’s house as I over heard Sam and the others talking about what happened in Italy. “What are you talking about?” I walked over to them while I put my hands on my hips. “It’s nothing just go sit down.” Jake waved in a motion to go away. “No, I think I have a right to know why I was kidnapped!” I crossed my arms across my chest. “She’s right, Jake.” Jared sighed shifting his hand to the seat next to him. Sitting down I began to listen to them.
“Well, we think we know why they kidnapped you.” Sam said raising his head to me then he continued. “Three months ago we were trying to help the Cullens with the Volturi which are the guys who kidnapped you.” Sam adjusted his body while looking to Jacob to make him finish the story. “Things got out of hand and we ended up killing one of the vampires named Heidi.” Jacob ran his fingers through his hair shaking his head in disgust. “They said they would get revenge on us by taking the person that meant a lot and turning them into a vampire.” Paul continued where Jacob had left off.
We sat there in silence. “So what does erasing my memory and turning my eyes red have to do with this!?” I asked knowing that I still had the freaky deep red eyes. “Well it’s all part of the process.” Quil said patting me on the shoulder trying to hold back his laughter. “It’s not funny.” I slapped him on the back. “Well how do we get rid of these freaky eyes?” I rubbed them over and over until they got red. “We have to dip you into a pool of vinegar then into one of tomato sauce then another one of water.” Sam said with a serious look on his face. “What, are you serious!?” I threw my body up off the couch. “No I’m kidding but the real truth is you have to wait it out until after the full moon and if you haven’t had your first meal your eyes will revert back to normal.” He said again standing up to give Emily a kiss.
“Well this has been fun but we need to head home, bye.” Paul, Quil, Jared, and Leah said walking out the door. Forgetting about what Sam said I turned towards Jacob. “So where am I going to sleep?” I asked again I bet I had gotten pretty annoying with all the questions I was asking. “Here, I’m too lazy to leave and I know you’re too tired.” Jacob got up walking to a closet full of blankets and pillows. “Catch.” He said after the stuff had hit my face. “It would be nice if you said that before you threw them.” I shook my head walking to the couch, which turned, into a pull out bed.
10 minutes later. Jacob laid down on the pull out bed beside me. “What, wait, why?” I asked not spitting out all the words. “Um I have no where else to sleep and your colder than a freezer.” He chuckled while pulling me close to his side. “Your like a personal space heater.” I sighed closing my eyes. “Yah, I don’t mind.” Jacob yawned throwing his arm over my head.
Even though the pull out couch wasn’t comfy I didn’t want to move.
