Life on Banana Street

College

A few weeks passed by and nothing got any better.
Mitzi was still living at my apartment, Jeremy was being an ass, Gabe was still mine. He-He.

“Hey Addie?” Mitzi said.

“Yeah?”

“I think I’m gonna move out.”

“What? Why?”

“Yeah. I feel like I’m being a burden to you and Gabe.”

“Never! You’d never be a burden. At least you pay your rent.”

“What Gabe doesn’t?”

“No, he does, I’m just saying at least you do that.”

“Oh. Oh I see.”

“Yeah. So don’t move out! It won’t be the same without you!”

“But isn’t Gabe getting tired of me?”

“No…Y’all used to be friends.”

“True. Ok I’ll stay.”

-A Few Weeks Later-

I went to go check the mail and almost passed out. I just got accepted into Texas A & M once again. I walked back up to the apartment and sat down with Gabe. “Gabe, we need to talk.”

“I didn’t cheat on you…” I stared at him.

“I wasn’t talking about that.”

“Oh. Well just saying, I didn’t.”

“Ok…but I got-”

“Pregnant?” Gabe said, grasping his chest.

“No. I got accepted into Texas A & M.”

“No! You can’t!”

“What? You don’t want me to go to college and get a degree to get a better job?”

“You have a job?” He asked wiping the sweat off his forehead.

“Yes. I work from home. I send in designs to a lame ass magazine company.”

“I never knew that.”

“I bet you didn’t. Because you never talk to me!”

“I’m not even gonna deal with this.”

“Oh, so you’re walking away?”

“Quit trying to start something.”

“I’m not.”

“Bull.”

Gabe was acting very annoying and paranoid about everything. On leaving day, I was expecting him to say bye to me and he said he would come. I was at the airport to get on my flight to Texas to go to collage. I saw Billie.

“Billie! Oh my God! What are you doing here?” I hugged him.

“I’m going to collage.”

“No. You wouldn’t.”

“Yeah you’re right. A little birdie told me that you were leaving today.”

“That’s sweet of you to come by. Unlike some people,” I said clenching my teeth.

“What do you mean? I saw Gabe a little earlier.”

“Where?”

“He was leaving here. He was kissing you in the front.”

“No…I was here the whole time.”

“Oh crap.”

“What?”

“He’s cheating on you.”

“He would never do that.”

“Either it was him and another woman or I’m going crazy.”

“I don’t think you’re going crazy.”

“So you think he is cheating on you?”

“Yep. I understand loud and clear.”

“Really? Because he just told me that to piss you off.”

“Why would he do something like that?”

“Because I love you,” said Gabe from behind me.

“Baby! You came!” I kissed him. I could tell Billie got jealous.

“Of course. I wouldn’t miss this for the world.” I smiled.

“Hey Addie, I’m gonna go. I’ll miss ya,” Billie said.

“What? You’re leaving now?”

“Yeah…I can see I have nothing more to do here.”

“Ok…I’ll miss you too.” We hugged for about a minute until Gabe pulled me off of him. “Bye Billie.”

“Bye Adeline. Don’t forget about me.”

“Never.”

Me and Gabe stared after him and Gabe just started kissing me.

“I love you.”

“I love you too. Please don’t leave.”

“I have to. We’ve been over this.”

“I know, but I’ll miss you too much. And since you’re so far away, we won’t see each other for long periods of time.”

“I know, baby, but when I come back, we’ll be in better financial shape than we are now.”

“No. It doesn’t work that way, Adeline.”

“I know, but that’s narrowing it down.”

“Really,” he paused, “It wastes A LOT of money just to go to college.”

“I know, but we’ll get it back.”

“Not right away. I mean, I’ll be on my own for a while. I’m going to have to find another way to make money.”

“Shake you’re money maker.” I said then laughed.

He caught the joke. “I’m not going to be a man whore.”

“No, you’re going to be Dusan Mandic.”

We cracked up laughing. “That I will,” he kissed me once more.

“I’ll hold you to it.” I rested my head on his shoulder and closed my eyes.

“Don’t fall asleep now. You’re gonna miss your flight.”

“Right.” I picked up my carry-on bags and kissed Gabe very long.

“I love you,” he said.

“I love you, too,” I said. “Don’t forget that.”

“I won’t. You can count on it.”

I jumped into his arms and finally said, “Good-bye.”

“Good-bye, love.” I smiled back at him with tears in my eyes. I boarded the plane and sat at the window and watched him walk away. As I got settled, the person that sat next to me on the plane sat down.

“Hi, I’m Addie!” I said putting my hand out for her to shake it.

“Hi. I don’t like you.” My smile faded away and I slumped back in my seat. This lady was disgusting. She would pick her nose and I could see where she wiped them on the seat in front of her. Her nails were down the bloody nubs where she had chewed them off and spat them everywhere. One landed in my drink. It looked and smelled like she hadn’t had a shower in days. She was definitely and emo person. After an hour of talkless flight, I broke the silence saying, “Excuse me, but why don’t you like me?”

“Cause you’re an annoying little bitch.” I looked at her with my mouth wide open.

“You can shut your mouth now. I’m sorry I only kiss girls that are my type.” I looked the other way, covering my face from her view. Ew. A lezbo. After a while, she was touching me.

“Um excuse me. Why are you touching me?”

“You got a nice body. I like it.”

“What the hell?”

“What? You’ve never seen a lezbo before?”

“No, I have, but I’ve never been touched by one.”

“Oh, well you’ll get used to it. Say, where are you going?”

“Me?” I asked.

“Nah. The bird out the window." I laughed an uncomfortable laugh.

“Texas A & M. Why?”

“No way! Me too!”

Oh shit.

“Oh, that’s great! Hmm…”

“So, what’s your dorm number? Maybe we have one next to each other,” she said. She was staring at my boobs the whole time.

“308. And yourself?”

“Hey dorm buddy!” She put her arm around my neck. “We’ll get to know each other a LOT more. Trust me.” I cried silently to myself. “What’s you name?” She asked smiling at me.

“Addie.”

“Cool. I’m Mandy.”

“Alright.” That’s a nice lezbo name. She blew in my ear. I twitched.

“Calm, we’ll go farther when we get in the dorm.” Why me? Why me? Why me?!

“I’m sorry, but I’m taken.”

“Well me too, but it’s sexy when you have a threesome.” I looked at her with a disgusted face.

“I’m taken…by a guy.”

“Oh. You’re straight. I see how it is.” She turned forward in her seat. “Unless you’re bi! Are you?” She turned back to me and twirled my hair. “That’s hot.”

“No, no. I’m straight.”

“Well…I can make you lez.”

“No thanks. I’m good.” Why me? Why me? Why me?!

We landed in the airport and I saw a payphone to call Gabe. I inserted a dime and dialed his number.

“Hello?”

“Hey baby!”

“Baby! Where are you?”

“A little place called the Texas airport.”

“Well, there’s more than one. Which one are you at?”

“Um Bryan. College Station.”

“Hmm…”

“Hmm what?”

“Nothing. Just tired.”

“You’ve been sleeping?”

“Yeah. What else is there to do except think about you?”

“Aww that’s sweet.”

“Yeah but not as much as you. You’re as sweet as a lollipop.”

“Gabe, stop before I just start running home.”

“I’d like that.”

I smiled. “Why are you so good to me?”

“I have to treat you with respect. Because you are mine.”

“Yeah I-” I screamed.

“What?” He asked. I turned around and saw the lezbo girl. She was feeling up my ass.

“Um…Do you have to do that?”

“Yeah. I couldn’t resist,” Mandy said.

“Who is that?” Gabe asked.

“It’s Mandy. My new dorm partner.”

“Oh, well I’m gonna let you go k?”

“Aww why?”

“I gotta go to work.”

“Oh. Ok. I love you, baby. Bye.”

“Bye. I love you too.” We hung up and I turned around and saw Mandy.

“Who was your friend?” She asked looking at my butt.

“My boyfriend?”

“Was it or not?” I was scared to say anything.

“It was.”

“Ok. Well, let’s get to the dorm.” She grabbed my hand and led me to the dorm. Why me? Why me? Why me?! When we got in the dorm, I unpacked the majority of my things. My bags had already been delivered to my room. This was going to be a nightmare. A lezbo nightmare that never ended.
