You Can't Lie To A Liar
3:30
Viktoria woke up to another one of her dads drunken fights with her mom. “Why
does this have to happen every night,“ She sighed turning around to lay on her side. She
heard her door open and close. She turned around and saw her little brother Axel standing
by her bed. She heard his soft cry’s. “Don’t worry, it’s going to be OK,“ she whispered to him
and moving over to make room for him to lay down next to her. She gently pulled him into a
tight hug. “What if mommy gets hurt again,” she looked into his red tear-filled eyes. "Don’t
worry she’s not, I promise. I’m here and I’m not going to let mommy or you get hurt.“ She
shuttered slightly at the memory of her mom having to be rushed to the hospital after she try
to hide dad’s liquor. After about 10 more minutes of her reassuring Axel that nothing is
going to happen and that she would always be their for him, he fell asleep. She quietly and
carefully got up and opened the door and went downs to the kitchen. There was broken
glass on the floor. She went to the closet and got the broom and started to sweep up the
mess. She heard foot steps, she quickly turned around in fear that she had woken up her
dad. But it wasn’t him it was her mom. She was crying and she had her suitcases in her
hands.
Christoffer looked at the clock, it’s was 3:30 am. “Who the hell is calling me so early.” He
mumbled angrily and looked at his cell phone. The caller ID said Viktoria Roar. He
answered it, rubbing his face. “Hey Viktoria,” He said tiredly. “Christoffer, she left,” she
spoke trying to be strong, but he could hear the pain in her voice. “Who left?” He asked
even thou he knew who she was talking about. “My mom, she left and she’s never going to
come back,” her voice was raspy. “She’s going to come back Viktoria trust me. She would
never leave you and Axel.” He said fully awake now. “No. She’s not , she told me herself.
She told me she couldn’t take it anymore and that we would be better with him because
she can’t support us,” she continued “she lied to me and Axel. She promise she wouldn't
do this,” she said in-between her crying. “I’m sorry Viktoria” was all he said. He didn’t know
what else to say. He heard something in the background, "you know it’s all your fault she
left" he heard her dad‘s voice say. "Sorry you have the wrong number,” she whispered and
hung up quickly. He couldn't go to sleep after that, he was afraid that if he did he would have
that bad dream that he got every so often, the dream that something bad would happen to
Viktoira.
Axel rubbed his eyes and looked at the clock, it was 4:00 am. He turned around to see if
Viktoria was still asleep, but she wasn't their. He started to get scared. He got out of bed
and walked in the hallway. He heard crying coming from the bathroom. He turned the knob
slowly and looked inside and saw Viktoria crying on the floor. He ran up to her and gave her
a tight hug. "What happened Roar?" he asked, nervous to what her reply would be. She
looked at him. This was the first time he had ever seen her cry and it scared him. She
hesitated for a moment then she spoke. "Mom left, and it's all my fault." He looked at his
sister shocked "Who said it was your fault?" She looked down, "Dad," was all she said. "It's
not your fault, it's his. He just doesn't want to admit it." he said softly. "How do you know,"
she said, her tears where dying down. She looked up at him, "trust me," was all he said.
