Sequel: The Truth Hurts Worse

Nobody Puts Baby In The Corner

Chapter 10

It was show time. Again, Luci and Patrick weren’t speaking to each other. Any message they needed to relay to each other, it went through different sources; mostly, Andy, Joe, and Pete. Katy was left out of the drama. She stayed with Luci most of the time, but sometimes wound up with one of the boys from The Rejects; usually Keegan. She seemed to like him the most.

Fall Out Boy was on stage now, putting on their show. They were about half way through their show now, and so far it was going great. Luci and Katy were off on the side of the stage, watching.

Well, more like Katy was watching and Luci was more focused on texting. She refused to listen to the performance now, but would ‘watch’, in a way.

“Hello, Seattle!” Pete yelled, grinning. “It’s fuckin’ amazing to be here! I hope you guys are having a blast!” The crowd screamed in response, cheering and jumping around. “Looks like you are. So, while your city is amazing, it pisses us off that there’s like, one or two McDonalds in the entire fucking city itself. What the hell is up with that?” Again, the crowd screamed. “Took us like, forever to find one. And I swear, Patrick was about ready to rip off one of my arms and eat it.” Patrick flipped his friend off, shaking his head. “Ouch, ‘Tricky!”

Patrick smirked and rolled his eyes. Pete grinned and went back to talking. “Anyways, so far, this has been a kick ass tour. An awesome friend of ours is here with us, playing the role of tour manager. She’s doing a good job of baby sitting all of us, you know? The best part, she slept with someone in Fall Out Boy, and all she got was a song written about her…” Pete just waved at Luci when she flipped him off, shaking her head. Lucky for him, she was chuckling at his antics. Good, he wasn’t going to die tonight.

They played the song, while Patrick threw the occasional look over to Luci while he sang the chorus. For a moment, he couldn’t take his eyes off her. This tour was a hard one already. They had been out for barely over a week now, and he was ready to just up and quit because of this. He shouldn’t be letting her get to him like this, but it couldn’t be helped.

He was suddenly shaken from his thoughts by the end of the song. Joe gave him a funny look, but saw what he had been looking at. Smirking, he gestured to Katy, beckoning her to come out. Luci frowned, shaking her head. She didn’t want her daughter out there for everyone to see. That was just too weird. Before she could stop her, though, Katy was off like a shot, running to Joe. He took her by the hand and led her to Pete, grinning.

Pete looked thrown off for a moment at the arrival of the little girl, but he immediately put his bass aside and lifted her up. “Well, look at this! Girls of all ages just can’t keep their hands off me!” He laughed, stepping closer to the microphone. “So, tell me, what’s your name? How old are you?” Katy had this big smile on her face and grabbed for the microphone.

“Um, my name is Katy! And four!” The crowd ‘awwed’ at her response and Katy hid her face against Pete’s neck. She saw how many people were out there and it scared her, but she knew she’d be safe with Pete.

“Well, Katy, I know you’re a fan of our music. Do you have a favorite song?” Katy nodded and whispered in his ear, too shy to talk to the crowd. Pete nodded and set her back down, telling her to run back to her mom. Katy gave one last look at the crowd before she took off running, throwing herself into her mamma’s arms. Pete waved to the crowd and ran around the stage to each member, whispering something to each of them. Patrick just shook his head but began playing. Luckily, this song was next on the playlist anyways.

“I confess, I messed up. Dropping I’m sorry like you’re still around...”

“Seriously, Joe, you pull a stunt like that again and your ass is grass.” Luci said on the shuttle ride to their hotel. Katy was fast asleep, curled up against her mamma. The rest of the show went well, with the usual encore of ‘Saturday’ being played. This time, the boys from the other bands came out to help play and do back up vocals. It had been pretty amazing, but also tiring.

“Aw, but it was awesome!” Joe told her, grinning. He shied away when Luci raised her fist to him, gently punching him in the arm.

“Poor Katy was terrified!” She hissed, pulling her daughter closer. Pete grinned, stroking Katy’s cheek.

“Nah, she was okay, Lu. I think the crowd thought she was cute…though it’ll be interesting to read the response on the forums.” Pete replied, leaning back in the shuttle. The ride wasn’t too long, and they were relieved when it pulled up to the hotel. They grabbed their luggage and got their rooms. There were only three rooms for the six of them, so it worked out. Pete and Patrick shared a room, Joe and Andy got one, and Luci had one with Katy.

“Hey, it’s not too late, guys…who’s up for going to the hotel bar?” Joe asked, grinning as he tossed his luggage into his room. Patrick shrugged, but nodded.

“Yea, I could use a drink…” He said, unlocking his and Pete’s room.. “Or two.” He thought the last part. Andy shook his head, yawning.

“Nah, I’m gonna crash, I think.” He stretched out, letting out another yawn. Luci looked over at Andy.

“Would you mind staying with Katy then? I would like to go get a drink…” She said, looking at her sleeping daughter. Andy smiled and took Katy from her, nodding.

“Sure, it’s no problem.” He whispered, carrying the little girl into his room. He put her in one bed and tucked her in. Luci glanced at Patrick and sighed.

“Well, am I allowed to go out with you guys, at least?” Patrick flinched, but shrugged, heading to the elevator. Pete followed after him and Luci linked arms with Joe, resting her head against his shoulder. “Let’s go get good and drunk.”

Ok, next chapter was difficult for me to write because the subject that it features was something I'm not comfortable with, and I had to keep this PG-13. So hopefully it works.
