What's The Name Of The Game

Merry Christmas

Once they got down to the kitchen, Tianna could tell Jon was still moody. She didn’t want to sit next to him like at breakfast that one day, because she was afraid he didn’t want to touch her with a ten foot pole. Before she could do anything, however, Andree had pushed her towards Jonathan’s bench and although he was in deep conversation with his father, he shifted for her to sit down.

He didn’t even have to look as he guided her against him, wrapping his arm around her waist. She sat there tensely for a moment, before Andree set a plate of food in front of her.

Tianna ate silently while everyone else carried on their conversation. They all finished eating before her, since they had started earlier as well. She got up and let Jon and David out, before sitting back down.

“Meet us in the living room once you’re done, okay?” Andree told her, setting the dishes in the sink. Tianna nodded and was left alone in the kitchen. She ate the rest of her food and put her dishes in the sink, before heading out into the living room.

When she got out there she hesitated, because it was pitch black besides the TV screen.

“We’re watching a scary movie!” David called out once he spotted her. Jon and his parents turned to look at her. His parents and David were all on the couch, and Jon was on the loveseat.

“Oh, um…”

“Come on sweetie!” Andree beckoned. Tianna was torn. She really didn’t want to watch this movie but she also really wanted to show Jon’s family she liked spending time with them. “It’s one of Jon’s favorites, he picked it out!”

Tianna glanced over at Jon, who was giving her a blank stare. He knew she hated scary movies, so did he pick it because he knew she wouldn’t stay? Because he didn’t want her around?

By now Jon’s family had turned their attention back to the television, waiting for the DVD menu to appear. She turned around and was about to walk upstairs when she heard Jon call out to her.

“Tia,” he said, causing her to turn back to him. He motioned her over with his hand, and then patted the cushion next to him. He remembered what Kara had said about Tianna wanting to be close to someone when she watched a scary movie, so once she sat next to him he wrapped an arm around her shoulders and threw a blanket over them.

Every time she would get scared she would nuzzle herself closer to Jon, who had no problem holding her close. She was clutching him tightly, and he couldn’t help but smirk at her behavior. He liked feeling like she needed him, like she depended on him for safety and comfort.

Suddenly Jonathan felt guilty for lashing out at her earlier. He didn’t know why he had done it really. He misunderstood her intentions and didn’t let her explain, and he felt like an idiotic jerk.

Once the movie was over, everyone got ready for bed. It was still fairly early, but everyone was drained from the camping trip and excited to be back in a real bed. After Tianna showered Jon went in and did the same. While Jonathan was in the bathroom Tianna got dressed and ready for bed, and then crawled in. Jon emerged a little later, in a pair of basketball shorts. He flipped the lights off and got in bed, and rolled over on his side to face Tianna who was lying on her back.

“Tia,” he whispered.

“Yeah?”

“I wanted to apologize…for, you know, making stupid assumptions,” he said, toying with the hem of her shirt. “I should have heard you out, instead of refusing to let you explain yourself. I’m sorry.”

“You’re not still mad?” Tianna questioned. Jon shook his head ‘no,’ and pulled her close to him. “I just thought…when you picked a scary movie I thought you were trying to get rid of me.”

Jon chuckled and kissed her cheek.

“You couldn’t be more wrong,” he murmured. “I picked a scary movie because Kara said you’d only watch one if you were close to someone and I wanted to be close to you.”

Tianna smiled, and Jon leaned in and kissed her on the lips. He rolled over on top of her and deepened the kiss. She traced her fingers over his sides, causing him to shiver and let out a groan. He slipped his hand up her shirt, but as soon as he did there was a knock on their door.

“What the fuck,” Jon muttered, getting out of bed. He opened the door, revealing David.

“Sorry to interrupt,” David remarked to Tianna, smirking. “But I need to borrow your lover boy for a moment.” Jon punched his shoulder and motioned to Tianna that he’d be right back. Tianna nodded and once she made sure the coast was clear, she grabbed the presents from under the bed. She snuck downstairs and laid them under the tree, before sprinting back up stairs and hopping back into bed. Jon still wasn't back, so she snuggled under the covers, and before she knew it she had fallen asleep.

Tianna was awoken the next morning by loud knocking on the door once again, and she felt a pair of arms tighten around her. Just by his scent and feel of him against her, she knew it was Jon.

Plus, it would be weird if it wasn’t, considering the circumstances.

“David!” Jon yelled, causing the knocking to stop.

“It’s Christmas!! GET UP!” David yelled, bounding off. Jon nestled his face into Tianna’s neck and breathed her in.

“Merry Christmas,” he murmured into her skin.

“Merry Christmas,” she replied, smiling. Jon began kissing her neck, and he traveled up her jaw on his way to her lips.

“Jon!! You guys coming or what?” Bryan called. Jon sighed and pulled away, getting out of bed quickly. He knew if he dawdled he’d end up getting wrapped up in Tianna again. He threw a t-shirt on, and then grabbed Tianna’s hand and led her downstairs. Jon’s family was in the living room, gathered around the tree.

Tianna could smell breakfast was cooked, so she figured they opened presents beforehand. Andree handed them two cups of cocoa and they sat next to David by the tree.

She watched from the sidelines as the family exchanged gifts with each other, and she was stunned into silence when a few boxes lay before her.

“You didn’t think we weren’t going to get you anything, did you?” Andree teased.

“You shouldn’t have,” Tianna insisted, trying to push the boxes away. Jon just put his hand over hers, stopping her.

“You got all of us something! Its Christmas for heavens sake child!” Andree countered. None of the gifts Tianna and Jon’s family exchanged were extravagant, but they held much more personal meaning to Tianna than she ever could have wished for.

The only two who hadn’t exchanged were Jon and Tianna, and Jon was opening his gift first. Inside was a bunch of Joe Sakic memorabilia, because she knew he was one of Jon’s favorite players.

“I know it’s nothing special,” Tianna stated as Jon rifled through it. He looked up at her with a dazed expression. “I mean, you’ve probably met him a thousand times and have a bunch of-”

“Thank you!” He exclaimed, cutting her off and lunging across the floor at her. He enveloped her in a tight hug and then pulled away, going back to his present excitedly. Tianna couldn’t help but smile and feel relieved when Jon liked her present. She had originally bought it just to be nice and get him a gift, but in between buying it and giving it to him she had gotten a lot closer to him. She was glad her gift was still appropriate enough.

After Jon was done looking through his stuff, he handed Tianna a box. Inside were a bunch of scary movies, and a card saying she was only allowed to watch them with Jon. She grinned, looking up at him.

“This is the first gift I’ve hated and thought was sweet at the same time,” she remarked. Jon leaned over and kissed her on the lips, earning an ‘awe’ from Jon’s parents and a cat call from David. Technically it was the first time they had kissed in front of his family. Tianna and Jon both blushed, and everyone made their way into the kitchen to eat. Tianna took her usual spot with Jon wrapped around her, and the family enjoyed a nice breakfast.

Tianna still got lightheaded when Jon would caress her thigh unknowingly, and she smirked every time she brushed him back and he tensed. They both drove each other wild, and they both enjoyed the power they thought they had over each other.

They both knew that neither of them really had the power, but they were content with pretending.
