It's so Hard for Me to Smile

Chapter 22

Thank you to everyone who has been following this, I'm sorry about this chapter but it's been a really draining story - for reasons I don't even know - and I just wanted to finish it quickly.

So here it is; the last chapter.

----------------

Linda's funeral had been today.
Just a few close friends and relatives.
Gerard hadn't even shown up.
Mikey said he was too busy getting wasted.
I swear I could kill him.
If I could only get my hands around his neck.
He would be the one having the funeral.
Frank was still taking it pretty hard.
He cried the whole way through the ceremony.
Even though both he and I knew that it was not what Linda would have wanted.
Linda would have wanted smiles.
Laughter.
Joy.
Not tears.
Sorrow.
She would have wanted her life to have been celebrated.
To be enjoyed.
That's what she would have wanted.

"Er... Heidi?"
Frank's shakey voice called from the front door.
I got up and made my way.
Frank held the door open.
On the other side two police men stood.
One vividly shorter than the other.
And much plumper, too.
"Is this Frnak Iero and Heidi Casher?"
The tall, thin one asked.
He was pale skinned,
and had flame-red hair.
I nodded.
"Y-yeah."
They looked back and forth at Frank and I.
Probably thinking of a nice way to put whatever it was.
"We need to escort you to the care home."
