One Day More

Ellie glared at the man before her. She could not believe that he had actually found and bound her. She did not like how she could feel the harsh bite of the handcuffs on her wrists. She did not like the two sets of rough hands that held her in her kneeling position. She. Wanted. Out.

The man smirked from behind his polished desk. “I told you once and I’ll tell you again: I’ll let you out, if you publicly announce your defeat.”

Ellie only spat on the shoe next to her.

The Man behind the desk only laughed. “Oh, look at her, she’s such a charmer,” he said to the two brutes that flanked Ellie. The Man got up and walking toward the kneeling teenager. “I wonder why she doesn’t just spill. I mean, she has already lost.”

The brutes grunted in response.

“Set her on her feet and take her to the window- I want her to see how much she’s lost.”

The brutes pulled her up by her up roughly and all but threw her into the window. The city was in ruins. Everywhere she looked, she saw smoke, flame, and blood.

“You see, my pet? Everything you ever stood for- gone.” He stood right behind her a whispered in her ear. “Your followers...your friends…your family.” He smirked and backed away from her. “Oh, what’s this on the television?”

She was forced to turn around and look at the screen. “Isn’t that your common law father’s house? Oh! And look, there’s your mom’s theatre house! Well, what’s left of it.” He turned to look back at her stony face. “What? Nothing to say? No witty remark? Fine then, Guards, take her back to her cell. Let her mull over her fate.”

“Red,” Ellie said in a flat tone.

“What?” the man asked.

“Red,” she repeated in the same tone.

“The blood of angry men.” The brute on her right elaborated, as if stricken by a spell.

“Black,” she ventured on, a smirk beginning to twist her lips.

“The dark of ages past,” the other brute said, also as if stricken by a spell.

“Red,” Ellie snarled, advancing towards the Man since the brutes no longer restrained her.

“A world about to dawn,” the first brute said, also advancing on the Man.

“Black.”

“The night that ends at last,” said the second brute, following suite.

The two brutes began chanting red…black…red…black as they advanced upon the Man.

The Man, left trembling at this deceit, could only scurry backwards.

Red - the blood of angry men
Black - the dark of ages past
Red - a world about to dawn
Black - the night that ends at last

“Stop!” Ellie shouted, her hands free of their previous constraints. The two brutes stopped instantly at her word.

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!

Ryan, bursting through the door, continued the song. The others followed behind him.
Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Beyond the barricade
Is there a world you long to see?
Courfeyrac:
Then join in the fight
That will give you the right to be free

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!

Will you give all you can give
So that our banner may advance
Some will fall and some will live
Will you stand up and take your chance?
The blood of the martyrs
Will water the meadows of DC!”

“Stop! Just stop with the fucking singing already!” the Man shouted. He was all but pinned to the window.

One more day before the storm!
At the barricades of freedom.
When our ranks begin to form
Will you take your place with me?

The time is now, the day is here” everyone sange together, in perfect harmony.

One day more!” Jimmy sang above the rest.

One more day to revolution,
We will nip it in the bud!
I will join these little schoolboys,
They will wet themselves with blood!
” sang Ryan.

One day more!” sang Brian

One day to a new beginning
Every man will be a king
There’s a new world for the winning
,” sang Kay, Matt, Val and the Berry twins.

Raise the flag of freedom high!
Every man will be a king
There's a new world to be won
” Zacky, Johnny, Ren, and Jimmy sang in tangent with the group mentioned above.

Do you hear the people sing?

My place is here, I fight with you!

One day more!

One more day all on my own!

(overlapping)I will join these people's heroes
I will follow where they go
I will learn their little Secrets,
I will know the things they know.

One day more!

What a life I might have known!

(Overlapping)One more day to revolution
We will nip it in the bud
We'll be ready for these
Schoolboys

Tomorrow we'll be far away,
Tomorrow is the judgment day

Tomorrow we'll discover
What our future lives have in store!
One more dawn
One more day
One day more!
” at the last note, the crowd of a dozen rushed forward and pushed the Man- the perpetual dictator of the United States- out the window of the Oval Office. The Man hit his head on the concrete below. The crowd, hungry for blood, surged further and began pummeling the Man. Justice would be served, afterall.

Ellie woke up to the sound of a heart monitor and the distinct smell of hospitals. She moved around a bit, instantly noticing that she had a paper hospital gown on and electrodes on her chest. She, however, did not have the trademark needles in her arms. About bloody time they noticed what the medical alert bracelet says on it. Groping around with her hands, she found the nurse call button and pressed it. “that was the weirdest fucking dream,” Ellie muttered to herself.
