Rum and Coke

Not Now

“Hi, I’m Andrea Bennet, I’ll be conducting your interview today, please, sit down.”

Both A7X and Stereotypical Youth sat down in their respected seats.

“Now, before I begin, this interview will be taped and I want to know my boundaries.”

“I refuse to talk about my personal life,” Ellie immediately spoke up. She had a very bad feeling about the woman in front of her.

Andrea looked up, slightly confused.“Ok, not a problem.”

“You may ask how we formed as a band, and that’s it. Only ask about things relating to the band, or our music.” Ellie elaborated.

Andrea nodded again. “I understand.” She looked around at everyone else. “And what about you?”

“The same applies to us, although you may ask what we’ve been doing for the past sixteen years, but you may not delve deeper than what we have to say,” Matt added.

Andrea nodded. “So, is everyone ready to begin?”

The group nodded.

Smiling, she turned on her voice recorder and began the interview. The interview was very dry and boring. Andrea just asked the general interview questions for the most part. “So, what is your message? If you could tell the world one thing, what would it be?” She asked SY.

The band looked at Ellie. Smiling, she replied. “We’re really trying to piss everyone off,” Ellie said with a fuck-you attitude. “Our philosophy is: is that if we piss off enough people, then they’ll join together and take a stand against the wrongs that our government is putting on us. Yes, we needed the lockdown, but, c’mon, it’s been ten fucking years! The government should not have us looking behind our backs every two seconds for traitors and the like. It didn’t work in Germany and Rome and it sure as hell isn’t going to work here.”

“But Germany took 30 years,” Andrea quipped.

“And Rome only took ten. Julius Caesar only lived a month after proclaiming himself perpetual dictator. Ours has been alive for six years. I believe we are severely overdue for a revolution.” Ellie replied sharply.

“What Ellie is trying to get at is that each of our songs send their own message and most of them are ‘what if’ scenarios,” Mark cut in. “Scenarios that, if we continue the way we are, just may as well play out.”

“And you believe that people will join your cause?” Andrea asked as she scribbled away on her notepad.

“Of course. People don’t like to be oppressed. There are always going to be people who want to rebel. Why else do you think that we call our fans soldiers?” Bailey quipped.

“And the fact that we’ve gotten over a thousand hits on Music Connection just by playing our last two shows proves that theory.” Ryan added.

Ellie smiled at her band mates before turning back to Andrea. “This is just the beginning. When the government catches on to what our cause really is, then it will be too late. If they try to shut us down, we’ll come back ten times as strong. If they incarcerate us, we’ll come back a hundred times stronger.”

“And if they choose to kill you?” Andrea asked in a borderline threatening tone.

Ellie smirked and leaned forward. “They wouldn’t do that,” She replied cockily. “They wouldn’t want to make Martyrs out of us. Besides, there will always be someone to pick up the flag after we have fallen.”

Slowly, she then turned to the Avenged guys. “Well, any comment on that?”

Brian just smirked. “I fully support them in anything that they do.”

“Agreed,” Matt spoke up, flashing his dimples. “They’ve taught us a lot already, and we’ve only known them for about two and a half weeks. Their youth a vigor will get them far in life, even if it’s not music related. We couldn’t have asked for a better band to tour with.”

The other guys nodded in agreement.

Andrea smiled- it almost looked strained. “Well, that was interesting. It was good meeting all of you,” she said standing up and shaking everyone’s hands.

As they were walking through the door on their way out, Ellie leaned toward Ryan. “Betcha fifty that was a spy.”

Ryan looked down at his twin. “Deal.”
