Hayden's Point Of View

"Hayden, are you even watching this?" I rub my hand over my eyes quickly as the guilt spits in my stomach, torturing myself like this has become a daily occurrence. Trust me, it's not pretty. I shift my eyes over to the beautiful creature beside me and all the hate in my gut melts, like ice cream on one of those ridiculously warm days, but the truth is it never really goes away. I try to smile convincingly as I stuff my hand into the bowl of popcorn on my lap. I stuff huge, sticky pieces down my throat, I'd rather that clog it that the memories of me leaving Austin to shriek on the road.

I can still hear him screaming.
