The Best Part of Believe Is Lie

Hey There Delilah,

"Hey, plain Jane." A voice said from behind me.

"Hello, Merrick." I greeted back as I shut my locker door and turned to face him. "Your friends late today or something?" I asked while putting my messenger bag around my shoulder.

"Now, you know I would talk to you even if they were around." He stated, crossing his arms.

"Yeah, and Pamela Anderson's boobs are real." I retaliated. He looked at me in amazement. I really didn't let anything vulgar leave my mouth.

"You know you're one of my best friends Delilah. Don't think otherwise." He commanded.

"Thanks, Zach. But look, I've got to get to class early."

"Ah, your Advanced Calculus class." He said, rolling his eyes.

"Oh, is the poor nerd girl is bugging Zach." A menacingly voice said from behind Zach. Zach rolled his eyes and turned around.

"Alex, stop being a dick. I'll see you around." He said to me.

"Right." I said, putting my lips in a straight, stiff line and bowing my head. I sighed heavily, and turned my head. The school halls began to fill with people as I walked towards my classroom. People bumped into me, as if I wasn't there. This wasn't anything new to me, actually. And, to be truthful, it didn't bother me.

Not even my own father really acknowledge me. Except when he beat me. You see, my mother died in a car crash when I was ten. He started drinking soon after, and that's when things got worse. He started yelling at me, blaming me for my mothers death. Then I started to believe him. When I got older, he started hitting me. He would leave home to go to the bar then not come back until the following morning, completely trashed.

I'm glad I only have two friends, truthfully. My co-worker, Farah Hallow, was my best friend from work. She dropped out of school her senior year to take care of her mother when she had emphysema. Zack also knew, too, but I trusted him not to tell a soul. But just having two friends was more than enough for me. I didn't want people knowing what went on at home; it was frankly embarrassing.

I sat alone at lunch as if it was any other day. People never acknowledged my presence, so it wasn't a hinder. I regularly retreated to the library and read books while eating trail mix I had got from my paycheck from work. But today, the librarian was sick, so they had completely closed it down much to my dismay.

I picked at my turkey sandwich, not really wanting to eat. I stood up, flattening my dress out, and picked up my plastic tray to throw it away. When I was pushing the cafeteria door open, someone was pulling it open. Zack, Rian, Jack, and Alex all appeared from behind it.

"Watch where you're fucking going." Alex cursed, walking past me. I held my backpack straps in my hands awkwardly.

"Sorry Delilah." Zach side, patting my shoulder as he walked by. I sighed, leaving the cafeteria alone.

Hell yes it is! I can't get enough of these, man. Okay, so let me know your opinions? I know it's slow now, but things are speeding up later (:
