The Undeniable Truth

That night, you stayed out all night. You had found your way to the cliff that over looked the ocean. You had never ment to confess to Kyo of all people why you really hated Tohru. It wasnt hard to know that you hated her, it was just....you didnt want Kyo to know. You werent sure if he did end up following you but at this point, you didnt really care.

You took a deep breath and just looked over at the horizon. You shook you head

"How could I be so stupid and tell him"

"Tell me what?" a voice asked making you jump and look behind you to see none other than Kyo. You had turned around back to the ocean

"Just go away. Why did you follow me anyway?"

"Well he wasnt the only one" you heard another voice. You sighed and held your head in your hands. You knew that smooth, calm voice from anywhere. Yuki had followed Kyo who had followed you.

"Just go away"

"We're not just going to leave you here by yourself Mai"

"Why not? Im sure you both would prefer to be with Tohru anyways" you told them as you stood up and kept your eyes out on the water. You didnt understand why the two of them would be here with you instead of home safe and warm with Tohru. You wrapped your arms around your body as the night breeze gently blew, sending goosebumps throughout your body.

~Yukis POV~

Yuki had looked over at Kyo and then back at Mai. He wasnt quiet sure why the two of them were here with her. But he knew what she had told Kyo was true. He had gone out to find Kyo to make sure he was alright because Tohru had asked him to. But by the time he found Kyo, he had seen Mai with her head down explaining something to Kyo. She had then run off.

He had decided to walk over to Kyo and hit him upside the head and they both agreed to go after Mia. Yuki sighed and shook his head sliding off his jacket and placing it over her shoulders

"Im fine"

"You shivered. Its cold out here Mai"

"I'll Be fine Yuki" She whispered and handed him his jacket back. She had looked at both of the guys and walked pass them. She didnt know if she could handle it. Being around the two of them.

~Normal POV~

Mai walked pass the boys but one of them grabbed her hand gently

"Dont leave us again" Kyo told her in a calm voice that sounded like he was in pain. She turned back to see that there was indeed pain in his red-brown eyes.

"Kyo" she whispered and then she looked at Yuki who had grabbed her free hand

"As much as I hate that cat, I agree with him. Please dont leave us again" he said in a gentle voice. Mai shook her head

"I cant stand here and watch her play with your emotions....I cant just..." She trailed off. Yuki had walked closer to her and pulled her into a hug. But she kept a hold of Kyo's hand

"Finish your sentence" he whispered. Mai closed her eyes and backed away from him

"I cant just stand by and watch her steal you from me"

"What are you talking about?" Kyo asked.

"Once the Curse is broken, Kyo will go to Tohru and Yuki will go to that girl he likes in student council. The quiet one"

"Machi Kuragi?"

"Yeah, her" Mai said as she lowers her head. She couldnt bare the thougt of having them stolen away from her. Before the two boys couldnt say another word, Mai had turned around and ran off once again. But the two didnt know what to say.

Kyo watched as Mai ran off and sighed

"Who do you care about more, that Machi chick or Mai?" Kyo asked keeping his eyes on Mais retreating body. Yuki looked at Kyo with surprise. He wasnt going to blame him for this? he was confused but decided to shake his head

"I know where Miss Kuragi comes from. What she went through hits home with me"

"She was beaten by the ones she thought who loved her. She was their only child but instead of ignoring her like yours did, they hurt her verbally, physically and mentally. Thats why she was different for a long time"

"It would explain why she didnt remember us when we went to talk to her before" Yuki said and Kyo nodded.

"We have to go after her" Yuki whispered but Kyo had already started to race after Mai. Yuki smiled before running after them.

Kyo had ended up catching her around the waist causing them both to tumble forward but Kyo had turned around making sure she landed on top of him so she wouldnt get hurt. Mai let out a small scream before falling. She had looked up at Kyo to see him looking at her

"Stop running away. We do care for you Mai and we dont want anything happening to you. You have been through enough" he whispered in pain. Mai's emerald eyes filled with tears. She had tried to pull away but he had held onto her as he sat up

"I cant stay here" she cried giving up trying to get away from and just cried into his chest. Kyo held her close to him as Yuki caught up with them

"Where do you plan on going?"

"Far away" her voice being muffled by his chest. Kyo shook his head

"Im not letting you go anywhere. Not this time" he whispered. Yuki had walked over to them and sat on his knees in front of them

"Neither am I. We dont want to lose you again Mai" he told her.

"But you two like someone else who you cant hold until the curse is lifted" she whispered. She tried to hold back her tears.

"We know. But Mai, we are willing to wait" Kyo told her. Before Mai could say anything, they heard someone running through the words calling out her name, Panic erupting from their voice. Mai looked at Yuki and Kyo in confusion but they seemed to smile in return.

"Plus, Im pretty sure someone else cares about you a lot more than we do" Yuki smiled at her. Mai shook her head

"He wouldnt. Hes twenty-seven"

"Since when did that matter in our family?" Kyo asked laughing gently

"I dont want him getting hurt again"

"Hatori would do anything to make sure you were safe" Kyo added

"But he would risk Akito getting mad again"

"I know. But to him it would be worth it" Yuki assured her.

Hatori had then found the three of them sitting on the ground. Mai's emerald eyes were red and puffy and he knew she had been crying. She looked away from his green eyes hoping he wouldnt know she was crying.

"Mai" Hatori whispered in a gentle voice. Mai's body began to shake as more tears fell from her eyes. Hatori had then looked at Yuki and Kyo confused. They both just shook their heads indicating they would talk later when they got to Shigures.

Hatori walked slowly over to them and in front of Mai, worry was still written clear in his eyes. He kneeled down and reached over, placing his hand on Mai's cheek. She looked over at him and jumped into his arms. He had wrapped his arms tightly and protectively around her small frame

"You scared me when you didnt come home. I went looking and then I heard you scream" Hatori whispered burying his face in crook of her neck

"I was so scared something happened to you" he added. This only made Mai cry more. She never ment to scare him but she was also happy that he went looking for her.

After Mai was sleeping soundly on the couch at Shigures house, Hatori, Shigure, Ayame, Kyo, Yuki and Tohru had sat in the kitchen. Hatori had left the door open to keep an eye on her. He sighed and closed his eyes

"Tell me what had happened" He told the two boys. Kyo and Yuki both had their heads down

"I went for a walk and bumped into her, we fought and then I asked her why she hated Tohru. She said she hated her because we were like her family. She thought that Tohru was playing around Yuki's and my emotions and she had every right to hate her. I was shocked. I didnt think she considered us her family. I asked her what the real reason was and she explained to me that she had us before her parents took her away from here. I tried to hug her but she pushed me away and ran off." Kyo explained.

Ayame took a sip of his tea and sighed and motioned for the two to continue the story. Yuki took a deep breath and let it out

"Kyo and I ran after her and found her on the cliff over looking the ocean. She was calling herself stupid for telling Kyo what she really thought. Well we tried to confort her but she thought it was stupid that we both liked someone we couldnt hold until the curse was broken. She didnt want to lose us. And then she told us that she couldnt stand by and watch this all happen to us. She couldnt watch us be taken away from her since we were hers first. She had run off again so we chased her. Kyo had caught her and they both fell causing Mai to scream. She said that we were going to leave her because once the curse was lifted we would hold the people we liked. And thats where Hatori comes in" Yuki finished.

The three adults sighed and kept their eyes closed. They knew why Mai was acting the way she was. But they couldnt be mad at her for it.

"You see boys, Mai never used to be so forward or so locked up with herself. She used to be so bubbly and full of life when she was little and met you two. Kyo, when your mom died or when you felt she was lying to you. Mai would be there telling you that she shouldnt act like that way towards you. That you were too great of a kid to pass up and she should really love you no matter what" Shigure started

"And you Yuki. When you were forced to stay with Akito and when I wasnt there for you. Mai ran to your side to make sure you had a smile." Ayame opened his eyes and looked at his tea as a small laugh left his lips

"She actually always got mad at me for leaving you behind and ignoring you. She was protective of you two boys. She used to yell at me all the time. Surprisingly what she had said had made me feel like she was older than I was and I wanted to listen to her. But my attitude got in the way of my thoughts and I pushed her aside like nothing. The three of us took care of her and always took care of her when her parents were away. She always wanted to see you two. And we would always catch her playing with you. You three were inseperable. But then the day she saw Kyo's true form came. We all thougt she was going to scream and run away telling you she hated you and to leave her alone but what shocked us all was that she actually stood there and smiled up at you like nothing had happened. Like you didnt transform before her eyes. You were always just her best friend Kyo to her. Nothing would ever change that thought. You two became like brother and sister. You always looked out for her." Ayame smiled as he finished his part of the story

"Yuki, the two of you were extremely close. She had kissed you on the cheek one day and after you told her you were going to marry her. But she just giggled and hugged you. You promised her you would always be by her side." Hatori started

"But why didnt she talk to them throughout school?" Tohru asked confused. Shigure and Ayame both looked at Hatori. They knew this was going to be painful to explain

"The day her parents took her away was the day we all found out that she had kept her zodiac form a secret. She didnt want everyone to hate her or call her a freak. But she found out she was rare and one of us. She felt excited until they came and never let her back. I was worried after I left one night only to see the paramedics there. She was unconsious with bruises all over her body. There was blood stained on her little dress and on her skin. As years passed, the beatings got worse and she had ended up losing her memory one night. She didnt know who she was or what was going on. When she went to school and Yuki and Kyo had went to talk to her, she didnt know who they were and walked off with her friend Ruri. We had tried countless times to get her out of there but we never could." Hatori finished his story as a tear rolled down his cheek.

Shigure sighed and felt bad but knew the story about their young Mai wasnt over yet

"You see Tohru, ever since Mai has been getting her memeory back. She feels like you are taking them away from her. She thinks that since she lost them once because of her parents and she doesnt plan on losing to someone whose not like us. She wants them to be able to hug and hold someone they care so much about. She doesnt really hate you. Just hates the fact that they might get hurt or lose something THEY care about" Shigure told her.

Tohru looked at Yuki and Kyo. She now understood why Mai was acting the way she was. She was scared but wouldnt let anyone help her. She didnt care if she was hurt, just as long as Yuki and Kyo were happy and smiling.

"Hatori..." Mai's soft voice came from the living room. Hatori stood up with no hesitation and sat next to her. He smiled down at her and talked to her as he brushed her hair out of her face. Shigure and Ayame smiled

"Does he love her?" Tohru asked.

"Of course he does. Just as much as she loves him" Haru's voice came as he entered the kitchen. No one asked why he was here but they knew that Mai talked to Haru all the time. Yuki and Kyo looked at Haru and then back at Hatori and Mai. He was actually smiling at her. And they soon understood that Hatori loved Mai more than anything in the world.
