What Hurts the Most

Madeline Annalise Asher wasn't known to be the one in the crowd.
She hid the pain so well, that the only one to see it was him,
and she didn't even try.
She was alone and in the dark,
with only her sheets and notebook for company.
She trusted no one.
No one, but him.

Alexander William Gaskarth was the one who listened,
who heard her pain, who watched her battle the world.
He saw her through the darkness and helped her breathe.
He was always there when he needed her.

He left. She cried.
But she never said the words she truly felt inside.
