Black Heart

chapter ten

I couldn’t believe he asked that question. What was I suppose to tell him. I couldn’t use that damn cat story that Roxie believed because he knew I didn’t have a cat. I looked up at Cade, and I could feel my face turning red. “Um..” Shit was that all I could say? I could tell him I know I can. I just need to relax, and he’ll fully understand.

“It’s okay you can tell me,” he said as he grabbed my hand.

“I cut myself..” he gazed into my eyes.

“Why would you want to hurt yourself Sam?” he asked.

I looked down for a second. I couldn’t tell him that he was the reason for some of these scars.

“I did it when my parents got a divorce..” I said softly. That was true but those scars were faded.

He hugged me tightly, “Oh Sam, I never knew that you parents divorce caused you so much misery.”

I looked up at him and nodded slightly, “Yeah..”

He hugged me tighter, “I’m sorry.”

I tilted my head in slight confusion, “Why are you sorry for Cade?”

He looked at me apologetically, “Because, I made you tell me about that.”

I sighed, “No don’t be sorry.”

“No, I should be sorry.”

I shook my head , “No you shouldn’t be, you wanted to know so I told you. Okay?”

“Okay then,” he smiled a little and I smiled too.

“So, what you want to do today?” he asked.

I thought for a second, wondering what we should do.

“No idea,” I sighed.

He smiled big and I looked at him with confusion. “Okay, well I have the perfect idea.” I tilted my head, wondering what his perfect idea was.

“And what might that idea be?”

“Just wear a pretty outfit and you’ll see.” Damn, I was confused.

“Okay..?” All he did was laugh at me.

“I’ll be back in two hours, okay?” I nodded sadly with a sigh.

“What’s wrong Sam?” he looked at me and I felt a light pink shade of heat reach my face.

“Don’t like not being with you..” I mumbled, embarrassed. He smiled and hugged me, chuckling softly.

“It’s just two hours, I’ll be back in no time.” I slightly smiled.

“I’ll miss you.” he kissed my forehead softly, a small smile on his face. “I’ll miss you too.” we hugged one last time, and then he left. I watched the door for a while, then walked to my room. I was never the type of girl to worry about what I would wear, or to want to impress people, but damn right now, I was going through my closet for an outfit to wear like I be starving for food in a grocery store. The only downside of this was that I had no clue as to what he meant by me wearing a ‘pretty outfit’ was jeans part of a pretty outfit? Or was I suppose to go all out in heels and the works?

I sat down in front of my closet door, surrounded by clothes. I couldn’t wear my normal clothes, they weren’t good enough, but by the looks of what was in my closet, I might have to. I stood back up and looked through the last bit of clothes in my closet. There were a few band tees, and hoodies, and some skinny jeans. I sighed as I through all them on the ground. I looked back up and my closet was empty, except for one item of clothing. It was a dress. I remember why I had this dress in the first place. It was the bridesmaid dress for my mom’s recent wedding with my step-dad. The dress was blue, lacy, and ruffled. It had a wide, pink ribbon around the waist area of the dress. It was perfect! I quickly grabbed it from in my closet and hurried to go take a shower and change.

When I was done I smiled. The dress still fit perfect with my pink flats. Now all I had left to do was fix my hair and make- up. It was like I was going prep today. I’m starting to scare myself. I barely put on any make-up, just light eyeliner, mascara, and some lip gloss. I’ve gone mad, I’m using lip gloss. Next was my hair. I straightened it, and after it was as straight as could be, I curled the bottom into loose curls. I was officially finished as I looked into the mirror. I looked normal, the normal that most people look. The bad part, I actually liked how I looked right now.

I smiled and looked at my iphone. I had set a timer for two hours, and I only had like 15 minutes left until Cade came back. I grabbed my phone and went downstairs to wait for him. Right as I sat down, someone knocked at the door. I took a deep breath and hurried to go open the door with a smile on my face. Cade was there in all his glory, dressed in jeans and a plaid button down shirt. The smile on my face had faded as I looked down. Boy did I feel overdressed.

“Wow..” he mumbled, a smile on his face. I blushed and looked back down at what now felt like a girly, poofy, and weird outfit.

“I think I’m overdressed.” the blush on my face got worse as I felt his arm go around my waist.

“You are so not overdressed, you look beautiful.” I blushed more, how much more can I blush!?

“Thanks, but at least let me go change.” I could see the confusion on his face.

“Why? You look absolutely amazing.” This made me smile.

“But I’m way overdressed!” he chuckled, pushing a lock of my hair behind my ear.

“You’re perfect. Now lets go.” I nodded and he pulled me out the house to his truck. He took something out of his back pocket before we got inside the truck.

“You have to put this on.” I did as he said and he helped me tie it over my eyes. He grabbed my hand and sat me in the truck. I heard the truck start and I leaned my head against the window, wondering where we were going. Suddenly the truck stopped and I was getting pulled out.

“Where are we?” I asked, but he didn’t say anything as we walked, and walked and walked.

“Don’t let me run into anything. I don’t want to hit a tree!” he laughed at the panic in my voice, but soon came to a stop.

“Oh shit, there’s a tree in front of me huh?” he laughed again and removed his hand from my grasp.

“Don’t leave me!” the panic in my voice grew, and he kept chuckling.

“I’m not leaving you.” his hand went to the back of my head, and he untied the hanker chief and let it fall to the ground. I looked at the scenery in amazement, but never spoke a word. He looked at me with a smile on his face, and I returned the smile back.

We were in Central Park, but to make it better, we were at our special spot. He had set up a picnic next to the Oak Tree. He grabbed my hand again and led me to the picnic blanket. He sat down and pulled me on top of him. I was now sitting in his lap with his arms wrapped around my waist. I looked at him and smiled. He smiled back and kissed me nose, which always makes me giggle. He chuckled and kissed me on the lips, and I kissed back. I smiling as he pulled me closer to him.

“Some picnic?” I said after a while of kissing. He smiled as he gazed into my eyes,

“Would you rather eat?” he was going to say that, but I kissed him mid-sentence.

“Does that answer your question?” he nodded and kissed me again. His grip around my waist grew tighter as we continued kissing, which turned into a make out session. My arms were around his neck and I was damn well enjoying this moment. That was until we heard a small giggle. We both stopped and looked around and there was a little boy, holding a ball in his hands. We sat up, I was still in his lap, and we looked at the little boy. He laughed and ran away. We laughed too and just sat there.

“Awkward..” we said in unison.

“Jinx!” I grinned and he chuckled.

“So what now?” I asked as I got off his lap.

“Well, we can either go back to kissing, or we can start eating this wonderful food I made, or we can sit and cuddle. Your choice.” he replied.

“No to the kissing thing.” the smile on his face quickly faded.

“Aw, why not?” he pouted and I laughed.

“Do you want another little kid watching us?” I smiled.

He smiled too. “Does it really look like I give a shit if a kid is watching?”

“No, but I don’t want people calling the cops for two people possibly having sex in the park.”

He laughed. “Fine, whatever. So what’s your choice.” I leaned into him and grabbed his arm, wrapping it around me as I smiled.

“I liked the cuddle idea.” he smiled and pulled me closer.

“I liked the cuddle idea too.” we cuddled for a while, sharing a few kisses every now and then, but it was quiet. I hate quietness.

“Tell me about yourself.” I looked at him, smiling. He looked at me with a smile, but it was a confused one. “What you want to know?”

I smiled, “Everything.” he stayed quiet for a few seconds before he started talking.

“Well, my name’s Cade Michael Smith and I’m seventeen years old.” I laughed.

“Okay Cade Michael, tell me more.” he nodded, smiling.

“I’m in love with a girl named Samantha Elizabeth Rogers.” I laughed.

“Tell me stuff I don’t already know.” he laughed too.

“Well, I have a sister. Her name is Katherine, but most will call her Kate, or Kat. She’s fourteen and a pain in the ass, but she’s the best there is and I would never trade her for the world. My parents are okay. My mom’s in rehab for her third time. She’s a druggie. My dad’s on a business trip, but me and Kate know he’s with some other woman.” I looked at him shocked.

“How you know he’s with another woman?” I asked quietly. He smiled slightly.

“His business trip was meant to last three months. He’s been gone for like two years.” I still looked at him shocked.

“Oh, wow..” he laughed. “It’s no biggie, unlike my emo stage I went through. That was a big biggie.” I smiled.

“No worries, I’m in that stage too. It’s not a big biggie babe.” he smiled and kissed me.

“You never called me babe.” I giggled and kissed his nose.

“That’s because I love you silly!” he grinned and kissed me. “I love you too.”

We sat still, quiet for good while. My head was on his shoulder, and his arm was around my waist. We were looking at the stars when a shooting star flew across the sky. He pointed at it and smiled,

“Make a wish” he whispered in my hair. I smiled.

“Don’t need to.” He was confused, I know he was.

“Why is that?” he asked, told you he was confused!

“Because silly, what’s the point of making a wish when I already have you.” he smiled and kissed me.

“I love you so damn much Sam.” I kissed him back.

“I love you too Cade.” He smiled more as I let out a yawn.

“Tired?” I shook my head no, but yawned again. He sighed, figuring I was probably tired, but didn’t argue. I cuddled closer into his chest, I was already sitting in his lap as I laid my head on his shoulder again. He wrapped his arms around me as I yawned again, my eyes starting to close a bit.

“Maybe we should get you home.” I quickly shook my head tiredly. “I don’t wanna.” he sighed.

“Why not?” I looked at him. My eyes were getting droopy, but I was going to definitely fight and stay awake.

“If you bring me home, I’ll fall asleep, and I don’t want to sleep.” He smiled.

“To bad Ms. Stubborn, we’re going home.” He picked me up and carried me to his truck. He put me in the passenger seat, and went to the driver’s side, got in the truck, and drove. I tried staying awake, but it was harder now. I looked at Cade who was smiling as I yawned. It was like he knew I was about to fall asleep.

“Cade?” I mumbled.

“Yeah?” he glanced at me before quickly turning his attention back to the rode.

“Don’t let me fall asleep.” but before I could finish that sentence I drifted off to sleep.
