Boarding school will never be boring

Hello school, goodbye summer.

As the trees flew by, my eyes grew heavy. I was sitting in the fourth row of the van we always took to school. On my right were Brandon, Cara, and Alex. The row in front of us held Luke, Lily, Kaylee, and Darla.

My headed started to lean towards the window when an arm nudged me. I opened my eyes and looked at Brandon. He put his arm around me and let me lean against him. Something that felt so natural to me instantly put me in a slumber.

Cara leaned over me and looked at Elaina. She smiled and looked at me, she studied me before opening her mouth and whispering.

“You fancy her,” it wasn’t a question, but a statement. She had caught me, and there was no point in lying.

I nodded in fear of Elaina awakening, and she smiled. “Good, I’ll try and help you out.” She leaned back in her seat and I smiled.

I looked down at the girl who was sleeping and ran my hands through her long blonde hair. Her skin was tan from the summer heat, and hidden blue eyes seemed to always dance. She stirred, but continued to sleep, and her scent floated into the air. I closed my eyes and leaned my head against hers and soon the rhythmic beat of the wheels put me at ease.

“Wake up!” I jumped and opened my eyes. I sat up and stretched looking back at Brandon. He seemed to have fallen asleep as well; he stretched, left the van, and helped me get out.

Our driver unloaded everyone’s stuff, and now it was our turn to bid bye to the boys and head to our dorm, Pumberton. Our mum’s couldn’t be more thrilled when they learned we all lived on the fourth floor. Sometimes I think that Cara and I lived in their room, but they never said.

As we walked across the quad, multiple people said hello, and everyone was excited to be back at school.

I unlocked our door and sighed, home sweet home. Cara laughed behind me, and nudged me forward. I dumped my first two bags on the right hand side bed, and left the rolling suitcase next to the desk. Cara dumped everything on the bed on the left side and sighed.

“We need music.” I nodded, dug around my first bag and pulled out speakers while she produced the iPod.

Once the shuffle mode was on, music filtered the room we began to work.

By five, Cara and I were running to the hall, you were not allowed to be late. We slid in just as the headmaster was making his way up front. I slid into a seat next to Alex and grinned.
He shook his head but smiled at us anyway. Our entire group was there, and they all starred.
I smiled and faced the headmaster as he went on with the rules.

Just as the headmaster was walking up to the podium, Elaina and Cara snuck in. I smiled at their tardiness and shook my head. Elaina took the opened seat next to Alex, and I could feel the disappointment seep in.

I shook it off and tried to concentrate on the rules.

Which was useless, my eyes trailed to Elaina and lingered. Her hair was down and straight, like most days. Her collared shirt was unbuttoning on the first couple of buttons, which showed her heart necklace. She wore only light make-up, not that she needed any. And in her ears were placed diamond studs. She happened to look up and smile at me. She waved and asked if she could switch with Darla. Darla agreed and suddenly Elaina was next to me.

“Like my entrance?” I quietly laughed and smiled.

“You always amaze me.” She grinned and suddenly the nerves were kicking in once more.
