Josey, It's Alright.

I sat at the booth, across from Josey, her lips curling into a sweet smile as Cassadee describes the song she wrote for her. Her chin was leaning against the heel of her palms, her elbows on the table top, which meant cleavage was present in her low top tank top. Her blond hair, in loose curls, fell over her shoulders, tangling a little with the length of her upper arm. The way that the sun was shining in through the diner’s window, made her facial features glow, just that much more.

A sharp elbow to my mind made my eyes move from her pretty little face to Rian, who has a pointed look on his face. I furrowed my eyebrows as if to ask ‘what?’

“You’ve gotta stop doing that, man, she’s gonna catch on, and we just don’t need that,” Rian warned, softly.

“I know, I’m sorry, it’s just…she’s so…perfect?” I trailed off, trying to think of a better word, but one didn’t come to me.

“Then maybe you should tell her what’s going on in that head of yours,” he mumbled, knocking his knuckles against my forehead.

“I suppose I could do that, maybe.”

By special request of Cassadee, Vinny and Kara were the only ones controlling the merch booth, as Josey sat side stage with me, as we watched Hey Monday perform.

“This is a new song, and it’s very important to me, I’d like to dedicate it to my best friend on tour, Little Miss Josey,” Cassadee spoke softly into the microphone.

“Alex, I’m gonna hear my song!” she clapped her hands, excitedly.

The drinks are flowing, just like the river
Then she keeps going
The whole night ends with a blur
She's got no limit
She thinks she's so tough
Can't walk a straight line
At the end of the night she's rough
Her dress whispers reckless
That night starts now as she slips on her necklace,
” Cassadee paused for barely a second taking a quick breath.

Josey, don't you worry
It's just a phase you're going through
Some day you'll know just what to do
Josey, it's alright
Slap the hand that just keeps pouring
It doesn't matter, just do something,
” I felt Josey’s hand crawl into mine, holding onto my fingers tightly.

She's ready to roll, tonight is different
She'll start it off slow to keep herself in check
Oh no, oh no: it's two for one
She starts the show
And now from this moment on, she's done
Her dress whispers reckless
That night starts now as she slips on her necklace,
” I looked down at Josey, who had tears beginning in her eyes, but a smile on her face.

Josey, don't you worry
It's just a phase you're going through
Some day you'll know just what to do
Josey, it's alright
Slap the hand that just keeps pouring
It doesn't matter, just do something

The party is tonight and she thinks they're playing her song
The party is tonight and it's playing all night long,
” she leaned her head against the outer edge of my shoulder, squeezing my hand.

Josey, don't you worry
It's just a phase you're going through
Some day you'll know just what to do
Josey, it's alright
Slap the hand that just keeps pouring
It doesn't matter, just do something,
” she let go of my hand, and wiped her eyes.

The band said goodnight, rushing off stage, Cassadee grabbing a hold of Josey’s elbow, pulling her to face the smaller girl.

“Did you like it?” Cassadee asked, with hope in her eyes.

“Cassadee Pope, that was the best song I’ve ever heard, next to anything Gaskarth writes, I love you, boo,” she smiled, pulling a sweaty Cassadee towards her, they shared an intimate embrace, being happy to just be in each other’s presence.
