I couldn't believe Tre! I turned wrapped my arms around him and asked how he remembered.

"Well how could I forget... You where so upset that night."

FLASHBACK

Nearly 3 years ago, when we where 13 years old, this was where we first met. I had just had a huge fight with my mom because I wanted to learn to play guitar and get my hair died and she wouldn't let me. I was so mad. I just didn't understand how she was ok with leaving me alone for months on end but she wasn't ok with my dyeing my hair! I ran out of my house just as Tre's family was moving in for the first time. I ran past so fast I didn't even care when I heard him yell after me to stop. I could hear him following me to Connors Pond. It was a place where all the kids in our neighborhood went when we where fighting with our parents. It had this huge tree that was really easy to climb and an even bigger rock that you could jump off of into the middle of the pond. No matter how any people where there it always seemed so peaceful. It wasn't long after I'd claimed the tree and was sitting there leaning again the top part of the trunk, bawling my eyes out, that I heard him yell

"Room for one more up there?!"

I was so surprised that someone had the nerve to follow me. Mike and Billie had both learned that when I went to the pond and climbed the tree that I was just better left alone. I looked down with tears still pouring from my eyes. It didn't matter if I would have said yes or no he was already over half way up the tree. It wasn't long at all before he was sitting in front of me with his knees against mine saying something like,

"Hello there! My name is Frank Wright but all my friends call me Tre Cool. And you are my first friend here so that means you get the honor of calling me Tre!"

I was so dumbfounded I didn't say anything at all. I just sat there for a few minutes staring at him before finally finding the words to say,

"Listen TRE first, you don't know anything about me so I am NOT your friend and second I don't really feel like talking to anyone right now so can you just leave?"

That didn't faze him at all. I guess he took it as a challenge. Without missing a beat he said,

"Well what kind of guy would that make me if I left a beautiful girl sitting all alone in a tree crying?"

Again, I didn't know what to say. I just nodded and said
"Yeah I guess you're right."
We talked for a little while about stupid stuff like family and where Tre had moved from. Through most of that first night I stuck to calling him Frank still not really liking the fact that he didn't just leave me alone like I'd asked. After about ten minutes I'd found myself feeling safe wrapped in his arms for the first time telling him everything. I'd never done anything like that before. I mean I'd told Mike and Billie what it was like for me at home but that was different I'd known them all my life, where as I'd only known Tre less than two hours. He was so sweet he'd just sat there listening and holding me tight even when I tried to pull away. After about twenty minutes of sitting there like that it was starting to get dark and I was feeling much better. We slowly made our way out of the tree and walked home together. For some reason from that night on Tre was the one I went to when I needed to talk to someone.

END FLASHBACK

I was so lost in thought that I hadn't even realized that Tre had lead me over to the tree and was already starting up. I was snapped back into reality called after him

"Oh my god Tre what are you doing!" He looked down at me with that same smile he had that night 3 years ago.

"Kat seriously what does it look like I'm doing?"

"Tre! That tree is really old! I mean what will you do if a branch breaks!" He didn't even stop to think he just yelled back

"Kat... Do you trust me?" Now what do you say to that ' Yes I trust you but no way in hell am I going up that tree! '? I rolled my eyes and started up the tree.

He climbed to the top then sat down on a large branch and reached out a hand to help me up. After we where both comfortable he gave me another one of those Tre Cool smiles that made me think he was up to something.

"So.." I said hoping that he would know what I meant so I didn't have to keep going. No such luck. He just sat there staring at me. Oh fine I'll say it.

"Is this where you were planning to bring me?"

"Well yeah. I mean I thought I made perfect sense."

"Oh don't worry it does." I said noticing the hint of disappointment in his voice. He smiled at me and put his arms around me as I leaned in to put in head on his chest.

*Tres POV*

Oh man! I can't believe this is working! I mean I thought she'd be totally against climbing this old tree. To tell the trust I am a little worried being up here to but never mind that. I wonder if I should talk to her now or wait a while...
