I Will Protect You

Far away, you know? Safe. Our safe place will be far away, somewhere they can’t touch us. They’ll look for us, of course, but we’ll just smile and dance out of reach, invisible. I promise you that if you stay with me they’ll never find us, just keep looking, wandering endlessly and eventually they’ll be tired and fall down and die, and we’ll just smile and keep dancing. They don’t deserve us, not to have us, and most of all, they don’t deserve you. You are the sunlight and the stars, I need to keep you close or there will be nothing but darkness, don’t you understand? It doesn’t matter what they say you are, or what they say you did… I know that the only thing that matters is you next to me. There is nothing wrong with you, there never will be. It might be hard at first, not to laugh when they come after us in their blinding white and metal instruments, stony expressions and bad intentions. But if you stay next to me I promise I can protect you, I promise I will protect you, because I have the magic, and you are the spell.
