Let's Not Ask Why It's Not Right

I found them together again. Kaitlin and Nick, I mean. This time he had his arm around her, too. I decided to ask him about it again, the next time she wasn't around.

I ended up catching him as he was leaving the school, while Kaitlin was off with Tay.

"Nick!" I called. He waited for me to catch up.

"What's up, Ty?"

"Do you like Kaitlin?"

He shook his head. "I already told you, Ty. I don't like her as anything more than a friend."

"Then who do you like?"

"I'd rather not say."

"Then how am I supposed to believe that it's not Kaitlin?"

"It's not, dude. It's just... I dunno, it's embarrassing."

"Tell me."

He sighed. "It's Tay, okay?" He was blushing.

I felt my face split into a grin. It wasn't Kaitlin after all. I was so happy, I felt like I could kiss him. Hell, I probably would have if we weren't standing on a crowded sidewalk in front of the school.

Instead, I just said, "Tay, huh?"

He nodded, his cheeks still pink.

I smiled evilly, then looked around. When I spotted Tay and Kaitlin, I took off running towards them.

"Hey! Tay! Guess what I just found out!"

"Tyson! You dick!" Nick yelled from behind me.

"You'll thank me later," I called over my shoulder to him, then sprinted to where Tay and Kaitlin were standing.
