Humorous Love

More Tears and Mail

-Fred‘s POV-

Ever since I saw Krysta in the hallway that day, when she completely ignored me, I had realized that I needed her more then I thought. The way she would try to ignore me, like I have all week, just made me want her more. I couldn’t deal with this fight anymore, even though I was the reason it was still going on.

Later that afternoon, was stressful, after already hearing from Harry that the dragons were going to be involved. My humor was already drained from me for the past weeks, and my life began to drain as well, as Krysta made her way onto the rocky field before a great dragon. Her small body was nothing compared to the blue monster, but she gave all her might. All the pains that dragon put upon her, I felt as well. But I still didn’t have the courage to go see her inside the tent with Jenny and George, the happy couple. At least they trusted and loved each other.

What broke me the most was a few days after the tournament’s first task, when I was only a few feet away from her in McGonagall’s class. She sat patiently, watching with glistened eyes at the professor as she explained the Yule Ball to the class. I joined George in a good laugh, when seeing that Ron was chosen to demonstrate the classical dance that we all would have to do. Soon we all were instructed to pick a partner and follow along with her, and that’s where it broke. Krysta stood just a foot away, before being twirled off with Cedric Diggory.

“Fred, you should stop moping around everyday. It‘s making it easier for me to look like the better looking twin,” George joked with me lightly as I sat with my head in my hands, at the edge of my four poster.

“Do you know what it‘s like to have your heart broken?” I asked wearily, all my humor was drained from my voice. My accent sticking out clearly like always, but I still couldn’t tell the voice was my own.

“Well, no, actually.” George said leaning against one of the bed’s posts.

“It hurts,” I said shakily, looking up at my twin. He looked so happy, with love painted across his face. Sorrow filled his eyes though, as he stared at me.

“I‘m guessing you found out she‘s going with Cedric to the Ball, what a git.” George muttered, placing a hand on my shoulder.

“No, I didn‘t know that actually.” I said, feeling another crack.

“Oh, I‘m sorry, brother.” he said softly.

“It‘s okay,” I said rising from where I sat and put on the best smile I could manage. “Why don‘t we get some lunch?”

“If you really want to,” George answered, but I didn’t bother to respond as I walked out of the room, hearing his footsteps behind me. Footsteps that I wished were Krysta’s.

“So Cedric?” Jenny asked with a half smile, and I could tell she didn’t like it.

“Only as friends, but it wasn‘t like I really wanted to go with him.” I sighed as I dipped my quill back into the ink bottle, before continuing with the essay I was writing for Potions.

“Then why did you say yes?” shed asked snapping shut the book she held in her hands.

“’Cause I knew Fred wasn‘t going to ask me, and I didn‘t want to hurt Cedric,”

“Well you hurt Fred,” Jenny said pointing over to the table across the way where he sat along with other houses.

It was now a week since the last task, and people we now getting dates before they were all gone. I turned to look at him, his red hair shining from the sunlight streaming into the Great Hall windows. It was study hall, in muggle terms, and also the period where everyone fought to get their dates. Fred sat with his brother, Harry, and Ron, who were all busy laughing and working. Fred wasn’t laughing, but smiled at his friends. Snape was walking down the isles, observing the students as they worked.

Hermione sat along side Harry and Ron, who were in a small bickering of whispers, before she stood slamming shut a book. I could hardly make out what she said, as she was hushed by Snape. “I have already been asked, and I said yes,” was all I could make out, before she stormed out of the Great hall.

I watched as George turned to our table along with the other three boys, throwing a piece of rolled up parchment at Jenny. She laughed softly as she opened the parchment, reading it before scribbling down with her quill. She quickly rolled it back up before looking to see if Snape was watching, then threw it back across the way.

“What was that about?” I asked returning my attention back to the homework before me. I rolled up the sleeve of my robe as I scratched a few more words onto the parchment.

“He was asking me to the Yule Ball,” she said giddily.

“You guys are already together, wouldn‘t you think that you two would be going together?” I asked shaking my head.

“Yeah, but it‘s still nice of him to ask,” she said with a smile.

“Yeah, nice.” I muttered as I rolled up the Potions homework and took out a new sheet of parchment.

“You should go talk to him,” Jenny said looking up at me.

“Him- as in Fred?” I asked, already knowing the answer.

“Yes, Fred. You guys need to makeup already, you both have no life in you since the fight.” she said with sorrow eyes.

“If he wanted to talk to me, then he would come over here,” I said looking back over at their table over my shoulder, watching as Snape walked past, hitting them on the head with the package of parchment he held in his hand.

“You need to, go do it.” she demanded. I knew I wasn’t going to win this battle, so I gave her a death glare as I placed my quill into the ink bottle.

I slid off the bench before standing and walking slowly to where the twins sat. A few inches away from them, I stopped as I watched Fred throw a piece of crumbled parchment at Angelina Johnson, who looked surprisingly up at him. Fred then found his humor, and pointed from her to him, and held his dance frame up. He moved his arms in a dancing formation, as he asked her to the Yule Ball. Angelina looked up at me and then back at Fred, she smiled and nodded her head in approval.

I felt something snap inside of me, as I felt tears prick to my eyes. I then charged out of the room, slamming the Great Hall doors behind me. He had asked her, and hadn’t cared that I was there to witness it. I punched my hand into the corridor wall, as I slid my back down the wall until I sat on the cold floor. My hand throbbed as I cried helplessly.

~Jenny‘s POV~

I watched as Fred asked Angelina Johnson to the Yule Ball, in a rather humorous way. I saw as Krysta began to shake and then stormed out of the Great Hall, slamming the doors behind her. Quickly I grabbed Krysta’s and my own books and homework, before walking out the way she left. Along the way I hit both the twins on the head with the large book I held in my hands. They let out a loud groan of pain as I stepped out of the Great Hall, hearing the soft sobs of Krysta next to the door.

I dropped the supplies I held next to her, as I crouched down to Krysta who was sobbing into a bloody hand. I took out my wand before muttering a healing spell, causing the blood the disappear and her to look up at me. Tears streamed her face, as I pulled into a hug. I felt sorry for her, and even more mad at Fred and George. With a few words of persuasion I got her to stand up right before Harry burst through the Great Hall doors. Seeing Krysta’s state, he picked up the books and parchment on the floor, as I walked her to the Gryffindor tower.

~Krysta‘s POV~

I felt like a total baby, crying in front of one of my best friends and soon Harry had joined us. My hand wasn’t bleeding anymore, but I still felt the throbbing pain, as the two escorted me back up to Gryffindor tower. My quiet sobs turned into soft, silent tears, as we entered the common room. Jenny lead me over to one of the large couches, where I sat next to her. Harry gently placed our stuff on the floor, except for a large package I hadn’t seen before.

“This came for you,” Harry said softly handing me the large package covered in brown like paper, tied with a tan rope. On top under the cross of rope, laid a tan envelope addressed to me, which I instantly recognized as my grandmother's hand.

After not hearing from my grandmother from the last time I sent her an owl about how I completed the task, I grabbed the letter first. Breaking the ceil, my friends watched as I opened the letter to a folded up piece of parchment. Silently I read the letter to myself, knowing that my friends were doing the same.

“Dear Krysta,

I am so happy that you have made it through without getting hurt, well, without major injuries for the most part. I was recently visiting one of my close friends in London, when I passed one of those boutique’s display windows, and couldn’t help but buy it for you.

Back in my days at Hogwarts, they held the same tournament, causing me to remember the Yule Ball. That is how I met your grandfather, you know. Anyhow, I knew that this night would be something big for you, and couldn’t help myself but to get you a little something for it. Hope it helps, and can’t wait to see you Christmas break.

Love always,

Grandma”

I held the letter out as my friends finished reading it themselves before folding it back up, and placing it neatly back into its envelope.

“I wonder what she got you,” Harry said, breaking the silence.

Sighing, and wiping away the last of my tears, I reached over and grabbed the package from the coffee table. Pulling at the rope, it came off and I pulled the brown paper back to reveal a large cardboard box. Tearing at the ceil of tape, I opened the box to reveal a beautiful pink silk ball gown. I was astonished as I pulled the remainder of the dress out, as I stood to admire it.

“Whoa, that’s amazing.” I heard Jenny say as she stood next to me to get a better look.

The dress was strapless with a silver crown at the front. It flowed in pink silk, when reaching the waist line, it turned into soft ruffles reaching the floor. I smiled softly, knowing the dress was perfect, however, my grandmother shouldn’t have done this. I didn’t deserve it.

“I‘m not a girl, but that is some dress,” Harry said from beside me, I gave a soft laugh as I held it against me.

“Too bad it‘s missing-”

“Shoes?” Jenny said holding up a pair of silver heels with a smile.

“Yes,” I coaxed folding the dress back up into the box.

“That picked me up a bit, but it still hurts,” I said with a sigh, sitting back down on the coach.

“I think you should tell him,” Harry said from beside me, I looked over at him. His face was serious and his eyes were the same.

“He wouldn‘t look at me the same way,” I told him, as I felt Jenny sit back down next to me.

“Krysta, he loves you. The pain of you two being apart is crushing both of you, can‘t you see it? All he wants is the truth, you never know, this might bring you two closer. All we want is for you two to be happy again. Tell him, if he really loves you, nothing will change.” Jenny said.

“I don‘t think now is the right time,” I sighed heavily, crossing my arms across my chest.

“Christmas break is only a few weeks away, you can tell him then. Your staying at the Burrow right?” Harry asked.

“Yes, but it would damper the holidays, wouldn‘t you think?”

“No, then you two can finally stop fighting and make up!” Jenny practically yelled.

“Do it, or we will. We are here for you Krysta, nothing is going to happen to you. Fred would make sure of it if he knew.” Harry said, placing a reassuring hand on my shoulder.

“Fine, but I think this dress is being wasted.” I finally agreed, changing the subject. “Cedric doesn‘t deserve it.”

“Fred does,” I heard Harry mutter from next to me, and I couldn’t help but punch his shoulder playfully.

“He‘s got a date remember?” I asked, feeling the pain form once more.

“Everything will be okay,” Jenny said placing her hand on my other shoulder.

“I sure hope, I don‘t think anyone can ever love a girl who is meant to be a Death Eater.”
