Humorous Love

Hero

The next couple of weeks passed too fast, when all I wanted was for everything to go in slow motion. Even though things were looking up, like how I was able to knock Harry out with one hit in training. I was even excelling in my classes higher then before. The only downer was that the Christmas holidays would be starting tomorrow, and I would have to tell Fred the truth. Which I was more worried about then the Yule Ball in just a couple of hours. I didn’t know how he would react, but somewhere inside me said everything was going to be okay. The fight was behind me, and all I could think about was getting him back.

I sat in McGonagall’s class in the back, where she had assigned me, which happened to be right next to Fred. Usually we would just ignore each other, or exchange death glares, but for some reason it wasn’t like that. Jenny sat on the other side of me, as we whispered quietly talking about the Ball that night, even though I was the one not really wanting to go. I had side glanced at Fred, who seemed to be in a cheery mood, and saw that he was smiling as he watched McGonagall carry on with her lecture. My eyes narrowed in confusion, as I looked back over at him and caught him looking at me.

“Sorry,” he muttered, half smiling as he looked back up at McGonagall.

“It‘s okay,” I whispered, the first time I had talked to him in weeks. He took this by shock and looked over at me with his eyebrows furrowed.

Neither of us said anything more to each other as class went on. Soon McGonagall dismissed us, which I got up to leave with Jenny and George. Jenny and I were laughing at something George had said, when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I looked behind me to see Fred, and soon I stopped along with Jenny, who turned with a smile.

“Uh-” Fred started searching for words. “I- hope you have a great time at the Ball.”

“Thanks, you too.” I said, knowing that what he said wasn’t what he really wanted to say. I stood there waiting as he scratched his neck, but no words came. I sighed before waving to him, and walking off with Jenny and George.

“What?” I asked Jenny as she smiled at me.

“He doesn‘t seem mad at you anymore,” she said cheerily.

“That doesn‘t mean anything, he said one sentence! How can you tell with that?”

“He talked to you, duh.” She said in a mocking tone.

“Whatever,” I muttered, even though I was kind of happy that he at least talked to me for once.

“This isn't necessary,” I complained to Hermione as she pulled on my hair. She gently slid a diamond clip into it, holding back the curled hair.

“Oh, but it is.” she said as she did the same to the opposite side of my head.

“You and Jenny hate Cedric, why are you guys doing this?” I asked already knowing the answer.

“True,” Jenny started as she applied numerous colors of eye shadow to my eyes.

“But, Fred will be there!” Hermione finished, pulling two strands of my hair to place on either side of my face.

“I‘m guessing Jenny told you he talked to me?” I asked, still knowing the answer.

“Yes, and may I say, finally!” Hermione cheered, messing with the curls that rested down my back.

“Nothing is, ‘finally’ yet. We are not together, he just said one simple sentence. Not meaning a thing!” I argued as Jenny closed her makeup bag and walking out of the room, her midnight blue dress swaying as she moved.

“Just wait and see, things will look up.” Hermione assured me as she clapped her hands together. “You're done!”

“Thanks,” I muttered, not once glancing at myself in the mirror. I quickly took my dress that my grandmother had bought me, and left the room to change, as Hermione got herself ready.

I undressed myself in the empty room that belonged to me and my roommates that included Jenny, before pulling the dress on. The pink silk slid on easily, and I was able to zip it up myself. The dress pressed against me from the top till my waist, where it loosened a bit, then flowed out around me from my mid-thigh. Placing the silver heels, that I would end up hating later, on my feet, I put on the pieces of jewelry that I had picked out to wear.

Sighing heavily, knowing that I had no reason to be dressing like this, except for the fact that I had to make a grand entrance with the rest of the contestants. Jenny stepped out of the bathroom connected to our room alone, and stopped in her tracks.

“Cedric really doesn‘t deserve this,” she smiled at me. “you look gorgeous.”

“Thank you,” I said blushing, even though I didn’t know how I looked. “coming from the one who will make George drop dead.”

“Thanks,” she laughed as she crossed to room. “Hermione will be down once she is done, she said not to wait up.”

“Okay,” I sighed as Jenny held the door open for me, which I walked through holding my dress up in the front so it wouldn’t get dirty.

The common room was empty except for the three boys who were waiting for us. Harry and Ron were standing talking to George, as Jenny and I walked down the stairs. The three looked up at us wide-eyed, which we couldn’t help but laugh. I knew that I didn’t need to look at myself in the mirror, if I was causing this big of an effect on people.

“You both look amazing,” All the boys agreed. They were all dressed in nice dress robes, both George and Harry’s were black, while Ron’s-

“Oh my gosh, Ron! What are you wearing?” I asked between laughs. He was wearing a purplish pink dress robe with fringe and lace at the ends.

“Don‘t ask,” he sighed angrily, as the rest of them joined me into laughter.

“Awe, don‘t go glum. I love you, Ron.” I said pulling him into a hug, as I wiped tears of laughter from my eyes.

“Now, if you all are done making fun of my wardrobe. I would like to get this night over with, so I can go sulk my embarrassment in my bedroom,” Ron said sternly, as we all stopped. With a nod we all carried on to the Great Hall, to have what would be the night of our lives.

“Good, Miss Daniels, you’re here!” McGonagall said as she ushered me over to where Cedric stood along with the rest of the competing schools, outside of the Great Hall. I smiled at him wearily, as Harry joined us with one of the Patil twins. I watched as Hermione took her spot next to Victor at the beginning of the lined pairs before the big oak doors. She looked amazing in her pink and purple dress, with her hair in brown small curls, in a up-down look.

“You look amazing,” Cedric said as I took his arm.

“Thank you,” I blushed lightly, as McGonagall put the rest of us in line. She then explained that once we all made our grand entrance that we would lead the others into the waltz. Which I couldn’t help but groan.

“Okay, children, they are making the announcement now. Walk in with your partner one after the other,” she instructed as a classical melody was heard through the doors. I sighed trying to get over my nerves, as the big oak doors swung open before us.

The open doors revealed a silver winter wonderland, from Christmas trees to fresh falling snow, the place looked amazing. It was like our very own winter wonderland. Slowly the line of us started walking in, and I was gently pulled along with Cedric as I looked around the room. I smiled at the people who stood on either side of us, knowing that tonight would be nothing but fun and joy, aside from all that had taken over my life.

Soon we had all made it down the isle of people and were standing with our partners in the middle of the dance floor. Gently Cedric bowed to me, as a new melody began to fill the room. Taking a hold of my hand and waist, Cedric led us around the floor along with the rest. The first lift came easily, and was applauded, as teachers soon joined us. I smiled at Cedric as he twirled me around and lifted me into the air. I couldn’t help but think that nothing could go wrong, but was soon was corrected.

I danced along with Cedric for the next three songs, half paying attention to him, as I looked around at everyone else in the room. Everyone was laughing and having a good time, as I scanned the room for Fred but couldn’t seem to find him. I couldn’t help but worry what him and Angelina were doing, and what was going on between them.

Cedric picked me up along with everyone once more, which is when I spotted the red hair, dancing across the floor along with the rest. Slowly, the red hair came closer and closer until I could see Fred’s face. He was smiling down at his date, as I grabbed tighter onto Cedric’s shoulder.

As I watched Fred dance with Angelina, I felt Cedric’s hand travel lower down my back. His hand traveled down the pink silk, until it reached my butt. I turned from my gaze at Fred, and up to a smug Cedric, which is when I reached and pulled his hand back up to my back. He looked confused, but then smirked as he reached down, and grabbed it this time.

“Stop it, Cedric!” I said pushing away from him.

“Come on, babe. You know you want this,” he said smugly, reminding me of Draco in so many ways.

“What I want is for you to stay away from me!” I said as I pushed him to the floor. No one had noticed our sudden halt in the dance, but danced around us without one look.

“Oh no you don‘t,” he said grabbing my wrist as I turned to walk away from him.

“Let go of me!” I ordered as the couples danced around us.

“Listen, princess, no one walks away from Cedric Diggory!” he said tightening his grip on my wrist.

By now people had began to stop dancing, and had formed a circle around us.

“Well I am,” I said as I tried to pull my in wrist in attempt to leave.

“Not a chance,” he said evilly. He swung his arm, making me follow the direction unexpectedly, which made me trip on my heels, falling hard onto the floor.

“I believe she said she wanted to leave,” came a voice pushing through the crowd.

“Really, Weasley? Why don‘t you get back to your date, as I do mine?” he said bitterly, trying to grab for me, but I scooted away from him. I looked up at Fred with fright in my eyes for the first time, not noticing that I had began to tear up.

Fred quickly stepped in front of me, before taking a strong swing and punch at Cedric. Making the crowd gasp, the two broke into a fist fight. I stood uneasily, backing away from them, as I felt tears fall down my cheeks as I watched Snape come and pull the bleeding two apart.

“Fred! Oh, Fred, are you okay?!” Angelina screeched, making her way over to Fred, praticly pushing me over in the process. She looked him over, and trailed soft kisses down his jaw before turning toward me.

I felt my heart crumble as I watched the site, and felt the tears leak down my burning face.

“You should learn to keep better control over your dates!” Angelina spat as I looked up at Fred.

“Thanks,” I said weakly before walking out of the ball quickly, wiping at the tears streaking my face.

-Fred‘s POV-

“Stop, Angelina. I told you already, we aren‘t together, just friends!” I said pulling Angelina off of me.

“Fine, but you don‘t know what your loosing, Fred Weasley!” she spat harshly, as she moved through the crowd.

I turned and watched as Krysta walked out of the Great Hall doors, wishing she wouldn’t cry. I winced at the bruise that was forming on my cheek, as I smiled down at the silver heel on the floor. Reaching down to pick it up with a bloody hand, Cedric’s blood to be more precise, and held in the my hand. Looking once more around the room, I made my way out of the Great Hall. I was going to tell her what I meant to say earlier, without backing out.

~Krysta‘s POV~

I stumbled most of the way up to Gryffindor Tower, partly because I couldn’t see because of the tears, and the other because I had lost one of my heels back in the Great Hall. My silent panting was all that I heard most of the way up to the tower, and I could really care less at the moment, if Lucius somehow showed up and took me away.

Almost to the portrait, I began to hear footsteps behind me, thinking that my wish about Lucius coming was coming true. I turned a corner and came across some stone steps leading down an archway, which I quickly tiptoed down. The footsteps came closer, and stopped, looking for me I suppose. I held the pink silk in my arms, keeping it from hitting the ground as I stepped unbalanced down a step, with my back placed against the cold corridor wall.

“Krysta?” came a voice, and I couldn’t help but slide down the wall and sit on the stair, thinking I was going mad. I recognized Fred’s voice, knowing this was some kind of mind trick, as silent tears slid down my face.

“Krysta?” came the voice again, but this time closer. I pulled my legs up to my chest, knowing this was it. If this was Lucius performing some voice curse I’ve never heard of, where he could sound like Fred, then I was going to be taken away to be killed by Death Eaters.

“Krysta!” I heard the voice again, as Fred appeared in the corridor’s archway. I couldn’t help but sigh with relief as he walked down the steps to where I sat. I smiled weakly at him before staring at the stone floor. I wanted to say I was sorry for everything, to tell him I loved him, to tell him that I was meant to be a Death Eater and was going to be killed for betraying it.

“You left this,” Fred said clearing his throat, breaking the silence. He held up one of my silver heels that I had left behind.

“Thanks,” I said hoarsely, taking the shoe from his hands. I looked up at him, knowing I looked my worst.

“I‘m sorry,” we said in unison. I couldn’t help but laugh, knowing we were thinking the same thing.

“I really am,” I said more sternly, looking into his eyes.

“I am too,” he said smiling a true smile, that he hadn't given me for weeks.

“But there are things you should know,” I said breaking my gaze, returning it to the floor between us.

“And I‘m here to listen,” he said lifting my chin to face him, bringing me to his lips. For the first time in weeks, he kissed me. Full of passion and love as always, but for the first time I kissed back with more love then he could possibly have for me.

And I couldn’t help but think, Finally.
