Remind Me That We'll Always Have Each Other

Where Would I Be Without You;

"So, what do you think Mia?" I did a small spin, showing her my attire.

"Beautiful!" She smiled.

I laughed, "Thanks Mia!"

She jumped off my bed and ran to give me a few squirts of perfume.

"Thanks love!"

"You're welcome!" She put her hand on her hip. "I think John likes you!" She began to giggle.

I smiled, "You think so?"

She nodded her head up and down furiously, "I dooooo!"

I couldn't help but to laugh. When John told me he liked me, I didn't know how to react. I mean, I was glad, but there was still that part of me, that was insecure. I was still self conscious about how I looked, and I was trying not to let it get to me.

"I guess we'll find out soon!"

I bent down and gave her a hug, and we walked hand in hand downstairs.

"Awe Kaydence, you look beautiful honey."

"Thanks mom."

Tim appeared behind her with a cup of coffee in his hands, "Jeremiah will have to be chasing the boys away from you."

I laughed, "Yeah, sure."

Jeremiah appeared out of the corner, fixing his belt, "No guy better touch you."

I rolled my eyes and the phone rang. I listened as my mom answered, wondering who was calling.

"Kaydence, it's for you."

"What?" I asked her, confused. Who would be calling me?

"It's someone from Mercy Hills Treatment Center."

I sighed and took the phone from her, "Hello?"

"Hello Kaydence. This is Susan from Mercy Hills Treatment Center. How are you doing this evening?"

"I'm good, and you?"

"That's great. I'm doing pretty well myself, just tired," She laughed, "But I was calling you to ask you a question."

"Okay . . ."

"Well, we just started this therapy group about two weeks ago. It's a place where people who are suffering from, or have just survived anorexia nervosa."

I felt a lump lodge itself in the middle of my throat. Almost that feeling you get when you dry swallow a big pill.

"Oh,"

"I was wondering if you wouldn't mind being a counselor here? I know that you were just released, but we feel that you could really reach out to some people and help them. But that's only if you're willing too."

I looked at my mother who was standing before me, with her hands on her hips, and waiting for me to tell her what the treatment center wanted. I dropped my gaze to the carpet, and sighed.

"Do I have to give an answer right now?"

"Oh no, honey. Think it through, but we would like to know soon."

"Can I give you my answer tomorrow?"

"That's fine Kaydence. Feel free to call whenever you feel ready."

"Okay, thanks."

"No, thank you."

I hung up.

"What did they want?" My mom asked me. I could tell she was worried.

"Don't worry, it's nothing bad. They uh, they started this group therapy sessions for . . . anorexic people. She wants me to be a counselor there."

She smiled, "Oh that would be great honey! Just imagine how many people you could help!"

"Yeah, I guess. I told her I'd give her an answer tomorrow."
My mom nodded her head, "Well it is your choice."

"Yeah."

"Come on Kaydence! We're gunna be late!" Jeremiah yelled, grabbing his car keys.

"Oh, I almost forgot we were going to the concert." I laughed.

I bent down and gave Mia one last hug, before giving my mother and Tim and hug as well.

"Try not to be back too late." Tim told me.

I nodded my head, "Okay."

"And be careful Kaydence, please. We just got you back." My mom added.

"I will mom." I gave her a kiss on the cheek, and followed Jeremiah out of the door, and into his car.

"So are you gunna do it?" He asked me, starting the ignition.

I shrugged my shoulders, "I don't know yet. I might . . ."

He nodded his head and began driving.

By the time we got inside the building, it was packed. And I mean PACKED. It was almost hard to breathe.

"I had no idea John's band was this popular." I shouted over the music, to Jeremiah.

He laughed, "You have no idea Kaydence! Grab my hand and hold on tight!"

I grabbed his hand, and he pulled us through the gigantic crowd. We received dirty looks and stares from people whilst doing so, but it didn't seem to bother Jeremiah. I, on the other hand, just stared at the back of his head, trying to avoid the glares.

Eventually we got past the crowd and through security, and now we were walking down a long hallway.

"Is this where the dressing rooms are?"

Jeremiah nodded his head, "Yeah."

I followed him to a door, and he knocked on it. A few seconds later, it opened up and Kennedy appeared before us.

"Jeremiah, my man!" He laughed and gave Jeremiah one of those "man hugs." Kennedy looked behind Jeremiah and smiled when he saw me, "Glad you came!"

I smiled, "Thanks."

He widened the door for us to step inside.

"Garrett, Pat, Jared, and John, look who came." Kennedy announced.

All three heads turned around and looked at us. As soon as John's eyes fell on me, a smile came across his face.

"You made it!"

I couldn't help but to laugh at how excited he sounded, "I did."

Jeremiah looked up from his cell phone, "How many more acts 'till you guys' go on?"

John broke his gaze away from me, "Two more."

He nodded his head and went back to texting. I assume he was probably talking to Lainey.

"So . . ." John looked back at me.

"So . . . " I smiled.

He laughed, "You look gorgeous Kayde."

"Thanks, so do you." I could feel my cheeks getting hot. I seemed to be blushing more than I ever have in my life, ever since John came around.

He smiled his beautiful, lop-sided smile, and took my hand in his. "Can I show you something?"

"Um, sure."

"Great."

He kept ahold of my hand, and began to walk out of the dressing room.

"Wait, where are you going?"

"I'll be back in a minute Garrett!" He yelled.

He lead us back down the long hallway, and with every step, the audience's voices and screaming became louder and louder.

"Where are we going?" I had to almost yell.

"You'll see!"

We went up three little steps, and he pointed his finger towards the back of the stage.

"Look."

I looked towards the crowd, and saw that it had grown even more just within the small amount of time that me and Jeremiah had been in the dressing room.

"Wow. Are, are you nervous?"

He shook his head, "Nah. I get a . . . rush from performing. I love it."

I smiled at him, "That's good."

I didn't really understand the point of him showing me the crowd, but I was just glad to be alone, well figuratively speaking, with him.

"Can I be honest with you?" His beautiful green eyes looked into my brown eyes, and he grabbed my hands.

"Of course."

He smiled and looked down at our hands, "I really like you Kaydence. I know I said that earlier, but I swear . . ." He looked back into my eyes, "There's something special about you. I can feel it. You're different from the other girls'." He leaned his towards the direction of the crowd.

I could feel my heartbeat breaking out at top speed, and once again, I felt that lump in my throat.

"I know we just met and everything, but I'd love to get to know you better."

I couldn't help but to smile at him, "I'd love to get to know you better too."

His eyes lit up, "So . . . you'll be my girlfriend?"

I had to laugh at his question. The way he said it, made it seem like we were back in middle school.

"I will."

He smiled and placed a kiss on my cheek. "You won't regret this."

I laughed, "I hope not."
