Thomas has known Daisy pretty much his entire life, seeing as they live next to each other. Even though they're both 17, it's not like they're friends.

To Daisy, Thomas is just the boy next door she's known all her life and she isn't planning on getting to know him better than she already does.
To Thomas, Daisy is one of the most, if not the most, intriguing girl he knows. He is planning on getting to know her better. One of the first things he learns about her is that she has major trust issues and therefor doesn't date.
