Something Felt So Wrong Here
I arrive home from the movie house with still no call from Will. What happened? I dragged my feet while I go in the bedroom.
“What’s up?” I hear Steph ask sleepily probably hearing me go in “It’s kinda early to go home on a date night” she muttered
“He had to go somewhere” I say taking off my shoes
“What do you mean he had to go somewhere?”
“He had an emergency with Nicole” I answered softly
“Nicole? As in the bitch?” Steph exclaimed “What business can he have with her?”
“I don’t know. All I know is that they are still friends. They have been friends ever since before they became together so I guess Will feels like she is still his responsibility”
“Oh my god. Here it comes” she mumbled
“What do you mean here it comes?’
“Here comes the very sweet Will being abused by Niccole” Steph rolled her eyes
“William isn’t being abused. Maybe Nicole really needed him, you know, as a friend” I defended Will
“Maybe. Maybe not. We never know with that cunning bitch” Steph said
“Don’t be too harsh to her Steph” I sigh
“I cannot believe that you are trying to defend that girl! Do you even remember what she had done to you in Sisky’s party?”
“Yeah, well, I don’t blame her for doing that. Maybe she was just bitter about their break up. I bet she is a good person, somewhere inside of her” I tried to persuade myself
“Yeah right. I hate it that you are such a good and understanding person Cass. You have to be tough to people at times”
“I’ll just have to ask Will why she called. Maybe that will explain everything. He hasn’t even called yet. It must be really bad”
“Or maybe-“ she was cut with my phone ringing
“’That must be him” I say grabbing my phone from my bag
“Hello?”
“Hey, sorry, I was just able to call now. It is kind of a mess around here in her house” he said
“Why? What happened?”
“Well, she looks really depressed and sad. Looks like she has been crying all day.”
“What happened? What’s the reason?”
He sighed
“She…” he trailed off
“She?” I urged him to continue
“I can’t believe I am saying this to your through the phone but, here it is. She said that she missed me and that she wants us to spend time together while I am still here in Chicago. She said she’s sad about her family affairs and that she was expecting me to be there for her but then she was saddened that I already had another person I liked. I guess that’s why she is breaking down now”
“What’s her family affairs?” I ask trying to forget about the whole “Will’s ex still wants to get back with him” issue
“See, her parents are divorced and she is the only child. Basically, both her parents are too busy fighting to give her any attention.”
“Oh” was all I can say
Maybe Nicole really needed a friend at this time and Will is her only close friend around here. If I were her, I would really be desperate to be with someone that I would go to the level of calling my ex. Perhaps she is just a lonely girl who needs company.
“Listen, Cass. I am so sorry about a while ago. It’s just that I have never heard Nicole cry like that. I was worried that she might do something bad and there will be no one to stop her or be with her when she is so helpless”
“It’s okay William. That’s what friends do right?’ I tell him
“You are so understanding Cass. Thanks for that” he mumbled
“Just be with Nicole until she feels okay already. I trust you” I tell him
“Don’t worry, Cass. I am just here as a friend. She is honestly all alone around Chicago, I am the only person she has”
“Alright.” I mutter
“I love you” he said before we hung up

“So, what did he say??” Steph asked me as soon as I turned off the phone
“Uhm, well, Nicole seems to might have needed a friend and Will is her only friend around here. She also said that she still isn’t over him” I said
“What?! Oh my God! That girl might be just acting to be with Will!” Steph yelled out
“I really don’t want to think of it that way. What if she really needed someone?” I say
“What if this is just her small little act to steal Will away from you?” Steph asked back
“Come on Steph. I trust William. I trust him to notice if his ex is just acting”
“Well, yeah. William has to notice if she is acting or not. But you know, Will tends to sympathize and be a gentleman to people, especially to crying girls. She may just give him a sad story and he will be right there beside her, trying to soothe her”
“Like I said, I don’t want to think of it that way. Nicole has a bad background. I mean, her parents are divorced and I guess finding out that Will had another girl pushed her to her break down already” I say
“Whatever. I still don’t trust her. You have to be careful about her Cass.”
“I know. And I am just trying to understand her situation. I hope she isn’t just acting to get Will”
