Prologue: Funeral Bells

When the church is empty and visiting hours are over, Jade comes out of hiding to enter the area in which an old friend of hers is lying in a coffin. His casket remains closed because of the state his body was in when they found it: his face torn open from a bullet to the back of the head. Resting her arms on the edge of the coffin, Jade leans into it and weeps. She cries out to him about how sorry she is and how she never meant for this to happen how it did.

Suddenly, the church doors slam closed. Jade's head turns back with a jolt, and she makes a break for the doors. After a few vain attempts to open them, Jade realizes that, to her horror, she is trapped in a church with no one to keep her company but the corpse of her former lover.

I stand nearby, watching complacently and preying upon her sorry state and wash of wicked emotions. The fun is about to begin.

This might be the shortest chapter the world has ever seen.

I don't know when or if I'll write more, but I'm kind of fond of this, so I figured I would share it.
