Blackness

100.

She was swirling, spiraling down, deeper and deeper into black. It was as if she couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think. Only nothingness surrounded her, reaching out to the far corners of reality. Normally, she’d be able to swim up towards the white, make a run for it. Be safe.

But this time, it was different. The black was reaching, pulling her down with inky tendrils; refusing to let go. There was nothing there to save her, to stop it. Once in its grasp, she knew she’d be stuck there for a while. Without help, she’d fall forever. Forever was too long.
