Welcome To The Broken Rose

Back To School!

I didn’t go to school for the next week. I guess I was scared and not ready for the challenges that I might face. But alas, the week must come to an end, a new week must start, and I will eventually have to face my fears.

When my alarm went off at 6:30 Monday morning, I was awoken by high pitched bleeping coming from the small white box. I waited for it to stop, and I drifted back off to sleep thinking about how much I wanted to stay in my warm, safe duvet. However, 5 minutes later the bleeps started again, and drove me insane.

I dragged myself out of bed, and whacked the snooze button. The beeping immediately stopped, and I just stood there in the middle of my room in the pitch black, wearing nothing but a night gown thinking about what I was doing. Soon I remembered, and I picked my towel up from the floor, and headed off for the shower.

I stood in there, allowing the water to run down my body. I was still scared about the long day ahead. I thought about what happened, and if Clare, Laurel or Kristina were still there, if they were going to leave me alone, or if they had gathered more friends, and would be waiting for me to arrive. I shook my head violently, and slapped myself. I shouldn’t think about these things. Soon, I climbed out of the shower, and was wrapping myself in the bright yellow towel.

The radio had been turned on and I walked into my bedroom, with heavy metal sounding around the room. I sat down on my sofa bed and thought some more. Time slipped by, and before I realised it, I was still sitting in my towel when I received a text.

”Rose. Please come back today.
Nothing will happen. You’d better
get moving. It’s 8:05!
Love Laura xxx”

As I read it, I cursed out loud without realising. But I quickly got dressed, and gathered my bag. I forgot to pick up my lunch, but in actual fact I hadn’t been eating since the whole incident. And if I did, it came straight back up again.

Slamming the door behind me, I walked out of it and ran down the street. Halfway to school, I saw my friends. A large grin appeared on my face as I ran up behind them. They turned around and pointed! They started running towards me. When we met in the middle, we all flung our arms around each other and made lots of noise, and started screaming in excitement!

We calmed down, and continued our journey to school talking and laughing. On the outside I was calm, and having a laugh, inside was a completely different story. I was worried, nervous and extremely frightened. This day was going to be a long one.
