Don't Get Close
Throw Away My Past Mistakes
Lucy sighed and held Fallen closer to her chest as she sat on the couch watching the guys play Halo. She swore that was all they ever did...
Everyone was up and in the front by now, waiting for the bus driver to find the nearest McDonald's and pull into it. Lucy, along with the rest of the guys, was starving.
"Oh shit!" Chris cursed, frantically moving his fingers along the buttons, trying to get his character to escape.
Mick laughed evilly, "You can run, but you can't hide!"
Chris scowled but his eyes remained glued to the screen. That is, until he heard a loud rumbling noise and lost his concentration, "What was that?"
Lucy grinned sheepishly as Fallen looked up at her, tilting his head to the side, "Sorry!"
The guys laughed as Lucy's stomach distracted Chris enough to get his guy killed. He mumbled something and put his controller down and threw his hands in the air, "I give up!"
Mick smiled, "It was only a matter of time."
Serena sat on one of the smaller couches, hugging a pillow to her chest. She sighed and curled her legs up so she could sit Indian style.
"What's up, Serena?" Lucy asked, concern spreading across her face.
She shook her head, "Nothing. Just kinda hungry, is all."
Lucy shot her a disbelieving look before looking over at James, "How much longer?"
James shrugged, "Not too much. I still can't understand where all that food could've possibly gone in three days." He purposely looked over at Corey, who looked around and acted as innocent as possible.
Fallen snuggled himself farther into Lucy's lap, trying to get comfortable. She smiled and began to hum Vermillion quietly to him.
James turned his head in Lucy's direction. She was humming one of their songs? To her dog? Did she even know what that song was?
Sid laughed from his position next to Lucy. He always seemed to be right where Fallen was, "That's an interesting song to use as a lullaby."
She shrugged, "It was the first song that came to mind. I don't even know what it is, but I like it."
Serena smiled, "That was always one of your favorite songs. Newest favorite song, anyway."
Lucy looked up at her, "Really?"
Serena nodded, "Yep. And you always hum it to Fallen when you try to get him to sleep."
"Well I dunno about the rest of you guys," Corey said, "but I'm flattered." He put his hand over his chest for dramatic effect.
Serena laughed, "You should be. You guys have no idea how much Lucy adores you."
The guys smiled at Lucy, who gave a small smile back in return. She glanced up at Corey, only to get a mental picture of him shirtless on a computer screen and loud drums playing the the background. She shook her head and put a hand on her forehead.
James looked at her concerned, "Are you okay?"
She nodded and averted her eyes in Corey's direction, "Yeah. I just kinda...uh...remembered something."
He looked up at Corey, who shrugged in response, "About Corey?"
She blushed slighty and looked up at James, "Yeah."
Serena giggled at James' and the rest of the guys' confused expressions. When they looked at her she explained, "It's probably about that email I sent her the day before your concert." She laughed at the memory, "She had that same reaction. Except this time she's not screaming at me asking why I would do that."
Lucy's eyes widened before she burst out laughing, "I still can't believe that you did that at work, of all places."
Serena shrugged. Everyone seemed to be shrugging today.
"Care to explain?" Corey asked, looking rather amused as he watched Lucy squirm when she noticed him looking at her.
Serena waved him off, "It's nothing. Lucy just gets flustered around half naked men."
Corey laughed, even though he had no idea what she was talking about, "I see."
The rest of the guys had gone back to playing the PS3 and talking in their own conversations. James, on the other hand, continued to think about it, Why would Serena want Lucy to see Corey half naked? He shrugged to himself and started talking to Mick about guitar amps.
-------------------------------------------------
Forty-five minutes later, the entire bus was filled with the scent of McDonald's as everyone munched on their food. Lucy happily took a bite out of her bacon & cheese McGriddle as Fallen watched her with pleading eyes. She couldn't help but "aww" at the sight of it. He was just too cute!
James glanced at Lucy, who was sitting next to him, then to Fallen, sitting on the floor in front of them. He noticed the dog had the coolest blue-gray eyes; it was like looking into a river. But not the Mississippi. That river was digustingly brown.
Coming back to his first train of thought, James looked over at Lucy. She was staring at Fallen like she was infatuated with him, which she probably was. She noticed him looking and turned to look at him, giving him a smile. Jim smiled back and right before she turned away, noticed that her eyes were the same blue-gray as her dog's. Her eyes were so intriguing; he just wanted to stare and admire them...
He was too caught up in his thoughts to notice that some of the ketchup from his burger dripped off and onto Lucy's now bare legs, since she changed into some black denim shorts before they went into McDonald's.
She observed the condition of her leg before looking up at James. He looked at her with a guilty expression and she couldn't help but tease him, "Excuse you!"
"Sorry," he said grinning sheepishly, "I should may more attention."
"Don't say that! You're starting to sound like Lucy!" Serena said, causing the guys to chuckle at her comment.
"Here, we should probably clean that up," James said, rummaging around the numerous bags in an attempt to find some napkins.
"We?" Joey said, looking rather amused as he shoved a fry into his mouth.
Jim scowled at him before softening his expression and turning back to Lucy, "I'll go see if we have something in the kitchen."
Joey smirked at James as he got up off the couch, "Or you could find another way to get it off."
The guys who were paying attention, and Serena, laughed at the expression on Lucy's face. Sheblushed profusely looked surprised. James just rolled his eyes as he walked by Corey, who held out some napkins for him.
"Wouldn't want to have to resort to that," he said as James tooks the napkins from him, "At least take her out on a date first."
James gave a small glare at Corey, but couldn't hold it when he saw Lucy trying to hold back a smile too.
"Yeah, didn't your mother teach you any manners?" Lucy said, playfully wagging her finger at James.
He smiled, "Of course she did!" He walked over to her and got down on one knee, taking his hand in hers and putting the napkins in it, "For you, m'lady."
Shenaturally purposely giggled andwas acted flustered, "Thank you, kind sir."
James got up off his knee and sat back down again, only to have Fallen jump in his lap and start licking the ketchup off Lucy's leg before she had a chance to wipe it off herself.
Lucy laughed, "His tongue is tickling my leg!"
Corey and Joey looked at each other before sharing their perverted looks with James, who just shook his head. Even though he was thinking the same thing.
Sid gasped dramatically and pointed an accusing finger in Fallen's direction, "Hey! He stole my idea!"
