My two Best Friends are a wolf demon and a Dark Angel?...cool

Niana leaned against her locker. She didnt understand how she couldnt come around to tell them the truth about who and what she really was. I mean, come on, they are her best friends. They had a right to know.....right?

She was lost in thought, not even realizing that the guys had been sitting there staring at her. They wanted to know what was wrong. This wasnt like Niana. She was the happy and bubbly one of the group. Michiro looked at Akira who just shrugged. He didnt know what was bothering her or if there was anything at all bothering her. But they knew that when she was ready, she would tell them.

Michiro sighed and waved his hand in front of Niana's face making her jump slightly from surprise

"oh sorry guys...I-I was lost in thought" she half lied

"whats wrong with you today? this isnt like you to be all quiet and closed off" Michiro asked her. But Akira simply shook his head, he knew that Niana wouldnt tell if she wasnt comfortable with it first. But once Michiro asked, Akira caught Niana looking at him for help. He knew at that moment, she wasnt going to talk about it.

"Shell tell us when shes ready too, Micho, you know that" Akira sighed as he took Nianas hand and walked outside. Michiro had walked on the other side of Niana as if the two boys were protecting her. On the walk home, Niana looked at the ground this time. She wanted to tell them, she really did but she didnt want to lose her only best friends. She didnt want to be alone again and have them hate her and make her father erase their memory of her. That had happened to many times in the past and she didnt really want to lose these two. They seemed to understand her better then the other kids at school.

Michiro looked at her with concern and then looked at Akira who had the same look in his eyes. Now they knew that something was definately bothering her. She never looked at the ground when she walked. She must have to think of something sad to do that. But before with of the boys could say anything, she lifted her head and smiled at her friends

"nothings wrong, i promise" she said gently to the both of them after seeing the concern in their eyes. Akira just nodded his head but Michiro wouldnt let it slide for now

"Liar" he said has he pointed a finger at her

"what are you talking about?" she asked confused. Michiro and Akira both came to a stop and stood in front of Niana looking into her blue eyes

"Nia, you were looking at the sky this morning and the ground just a couple minutes ago" Michiro told her. Niana shook her head with a smile

"i dont see how that makes me a liar when i just enjoy looking at the sky and the....ground" she said the last part slowly. Akira sighed as he ran his hand through his black hair

"i think what Micho is trying to say is that you only look up at the sky when your thinking and you look at the ground when something is bothering you. Nia, we're your best friends and we know you better than other do. Please tell us whats on your mind that is making you so upset" Akira pleaded but Niana shook her head as she took her hand out of Akiras

"im sorry but nothings wrong" she said quietly as she looked at the ground once again and then ran past the two. She had to get home and away from her friends. She didnt want them to hate her or call her a freak. She couldnt handle that again. As these thoughts ran through her head, she could hear the guys running after her and calling for her but she wasnt about to stop now. She had reached her house and slammed the door shut locking it. She put her backpack down and leaned against the door catching her breath. She didnt even notice that her father was home and looking at her with worry. He didnt want his only child going through being called a freak again.

Once Niana caught her breath, she opened her eyes and jumped at the sight of her father standing there in front of here looking concerned. She stood up straight and looked at the floor

"I want to tell them daddy, but i cant. They're my friends"

"and why cant you tell them? dont you trust them?"

"I do trust them, but i trust all the others too. These two are special to me and I dont want to lose them. They're my only best friends and I cant lose them" she told her father quietly. He walked over to his daughter and hugged her. She was afraid of losing the only ones that understood her. He didnt want her to be upset so he had made a plan to talk to the boys without Niana suspecting anything. He liked her friends, how the boys would pick her up before school and then walk her home. They stood up for her when someone was mean to her and made her smile when she was upset. These were the ones that he didnt want to erase the memories of. He knew that if it came to that, then he would have to erase her memory of them.

He pulled away from her as the knocks came to the door. He looked at his daughter who shook her head, as she grabbed her bag and ran up to her room. Her father opened the door and looked at the boys

"please tell us shes home" Michiro begged

"she is but she doesnt wish to talk to anyone"

"is it something that we said? something we did?" Akira asked with worry clearly written all over his face

"no, you boys didnt do or say anything to upset her. Shes just having one of her moments" he told them. The two nodded and told him that they would be there in the morning to pick her up for school. With that, they left.

Niana watched the boys walk away from her house from her bedroom window. Tears welled up in her eyes as they walked away knowing they were worried about her. Jasper hopped in her lap and looked up at her and then out at Akira and Michiro

"I dont think they'll do what the others did" he told her but she shook her head

"thats what we thought the last time remember? I dont want to lose them. It would hurt so much to know they consider me a freak or....know they wont remember me" she told Jasper as tears rolled down her cheeks. Jasper sighed and nodded

"Your parents like them too"

"I know they do, thats going to be the hard part"

"what?"

"letting go of them when they wont remember who i am, when they dont remember our friendship...." she trailed off. Niana took a deep breath and stroked Jasper

"come now, i have homework to do" she said looking at thim with a smile. Even through the smile, Jasper could still see the sadness and fear in her blue eyes.

*A week later*

The guys had tried countless times to get Niana to tell them what was bothering her but she told them that she was having one of her moments and that she was fine now, but somehow the two could still see the fear in her eyes just like Jasper had a week ago.

It was Friday and school was long over. Niana had taken Jasper and had gone to their spot in the forest by their house. A few hundred feet from the entrance of the forest, there was a clearing and thats where the two sat together. Jasper was laying in the sun in the grass while Niana sat on a rock not too far away. Jasper looked over at her to see she was once again lost in thought as she rubbed her sore shoulders

"let your wings out"

"i cant, what if someone sees?"

"your father will erase their memory on the spot but why should that matter? your shoulders are in pain because you havent let them out for a week" he told her. She nodded as she closed her eyes.

Lucky for Niana, she was wearing a white tank top so it was easier to let her wings out. Within minutes, beautiful white wings sprouted from her shoulder blades. They shimmered in the rays of sunlight that made it through the canopy. Jasper smiled at her as a smile formed on her lips

"doesnt that feel better?" he asked with amusment playing in her voice. But before Niana could say anything, she heard two familiar voices at the edge of the clearing

"He said that we could find her in the clearing" one said

"how do you know where this freakin place is?" the other asked

"I dont, he said just to walk straight and we'd find.....Nia......" Akria said as they entered the clearing and caught sight of Nianas wings. Niana froze in her place and stared straight at her best friends.
