A story told and a gift sent
~At home~
When Niana had walked through the door, she didn’t notice her father sitting at the island in the kitchen. He instantly tensed when he caught a familiar scent. He turned around only to see Niana looking dazed and confused
“Nia?” he asked gently. Niana jumped at the sound of her fathers voice
“Yes daddy?”
“What’s wrong, my dear?”
“Nothing, just….lost in thought I guess” she lied. Niana knew that her father would catch the lie but he also knew that she didn’t want to talk about it and when she was ready, she would tell him. Jared nodded and then looked at the clock
“Have you eaten tonight?”
“No.”
“Your mother and I knew you wouldn’t so we saved you deer blood. It’s in the fridge”
“Thank you daddy, but I’m not hungry” she told him as she attempted to walk past him. Jared had closed his eyes as he let out a sigh. He had then used his power to turn her around to face him. Niana looked down
“Do you want to go back to the hospital with Erikson”
“No.”
“If you don’t eat again, you’ll have to go back only this time…You’ll have to stay much longer”
“How much longer?”
“Years, depending on how your body will take which kind of blood” he told her once he looked up at her. Niana looked back at her father with fear in her eyes
“You need to start eating again. You’re worrying your mother”
“What about you?”
“You always worry me” he smiled softly as he stood up from the island, walked over to her, kissed her on the forehead and then looked down at her again
“Eat and then go get some rest”
“Yes daddy” she whispered. Jared smiled weakly before leaving her in the kitchen. He walked to his bedroom where his wife was sitting in the bay window reading a new book she bought the day before. Once he entered the room and shut the door, Ivy looked up at Jared and noticed the discomfort in his eyes. She immediately closed her book and walked over to him
“Jared?”
“He’s here”
“Allen is here? But why?”
“Why do you think Ivy? He’s here for Niana”
“He can’t have her”
“If he claims her, there’s nothing you nor I can do about it”
“I know, it’s the rule but Jared….she’s our only child”
“I know Ivy”
“Why is he trying to take our baby?”
“Revenge”
“For what?”
“Me claiming you. He wanted you for so long but so did I. And I wasn’t going to let him have you. So to earn you and your love, I betrayed my closest friend”
“Jared…”
“Allen and I were best of friends. We hunted together and we took turns on claiming. You know how I’m the leader of the family now?”
“Yes”
“That’s because I claimed most of the females and beat the males in competitions. After I claimed you, I realized how much I actually cared for you and knew that I needed to stop my….my whorish ways. If I hadn’t changed my ways, I would have claimed Niana as well” Jared explained. He had looked away from his wife with shame written all over his face. Ivy just sat on the bed as he told his story.
“Back when I was young, Allen and I always stuck together. We were practically brothers”
“So he hates you and wants revenge because you claimed me and is now planning to claim Nia?”
“Exactly. Its all out of revenge and hatred towards me” Jared told her. Ivy walked over to Jared and smiled up at him as she placed her hands on his chest. Jared looked down into his wife’s green eyes and couldn’t help but relax and smile back down at her. He had raised his hand to her cheek and caressed it gently
“I knew there was a reason I stayed with you” he told her. Ivy laughed gently and kissed his cheek
“Come on love, it’s time for bed” she smiled as she took his hand and lead him to the bed.
~~Next morning, At school~
Niana walked down the halls that were crowded with other kids who wouldn’t stop staring at her. She had heard the rumors flying around but chose to ignore them. It was cruel how kids made up false stories about her when the guys weren’t with her. They had been saying that the three of them weren’t hanging out anymore because she wouldn’t sleep with them and that they left her for someone better. Niana made it to her classroom only to see the guys in their usual seats. Niana looked away from them and sat in the back of the room. Akira and Michiro had too heard the rumors flying around about Niana but knew there was nothing they could do about it now. Akira looked back at Niana but couldn’t catch her eyes. It hurt him to see her in such a state, so he turned around to face the front of the class. Michiro sighed and hit his head on the table a few times
“This is ridiculous. We cant even talk to her because of them”
“I cant stand seeing her so hurt”
“And knowing it’s all our fault”
“No. It’s theirs”
“No Akira, we’re the ones who decided to listen to our girlfriends”
“So this is all our fault” Akira agreed glumly.
Part way through the class, there was a knock on the door. The whole class looked up from their work and looked at the door. Their teacher got up from his desk and opened the door. An office aide walked in the classroom with a dozen pink and green carnations
“I’m sorry to interrupt sir, But these came for Niana Ortaga. The man said to get them to her as soon as possible” the young man apologized. The teacher looked at Niana who blushed out of embarrassment
“Niana, please come get these flowers” he instructed. Niana stood up and slowly walked over to the young man and took the flowers
“Thank you Nate”
“You’re welcome Niana” he bowed and left. Niana rushed back to her seat and sat down
“Next time, your admirer sends you flowers when you are not in my class”
“I’m very sorry Sir, it wont happen again” Niana murmured. Once the whole class went back to their work, Niana noticed that there was a card in the flowers. She had reached in for it and read it:
For My love,
I thought that I would send a token of my love for you by sending you your favorite flowers.
I will meet you after school by the front gate. I will give you more information about tonight, Until then my love

After she had read his note, she couldn’t help but smile openly. He was sweet and thoughtful. But she wondered what they were going to do after he came to get her after school. She was excited and nervous at the same time.
Michiro and Akira kept looking back at Niana and wondered who the flowers had been from. They knew it was no one from the school. Akira knew that whoever it was, was trying hard to win Niana over. He sighed and looked back down at his work. Michiro looked at Akira and sighed
“There’s nothing we can do”
“I know but still don’t like this”
“You have no saw, Akira. We made our choice and we lost Nia within a few days. Whoever is trying to win her heart is trying hard. But Niana still needs to make her choice” Michiro whispered. Akira had glared down at his paper work as his balled his hands into fists. Michiro was right but Akira still wanted to stop the mystery man.
