‹ Prequel: Nothing Can Break Us, No One Can Make Us
Give Our Rights Away, Arise And Seize The Day
And don’t come down until you feel sober!
Tori stirred a bit before opening her eyes. It was bright as could be in her room from forgetting to close the blinds. “That’s what I get for having sex before 8,” she mumbled before looking over at Ryan who was fast asleep next to her. She shrugged herself out of his arms before getting dressed and going downstairs. She jumped at least a half a foot back when she saw Maddie passed out at the table. “What the hell are you doing?!”
Maddie shot her head up. “Shit,” she held her head. She walked closer to her and noticed her holding a virtually empty bottle of Vodka.
“What the hell did you do?! When did you get home last night?!”
“I didn’t do anything,” she started crying on the table again. Tori rolled her eyes and got her four tablets of Motrin from the cabinet. She sat down next to her and rubbed her back. “It’s like, I don’t understand anyone anymore,” she cried more and dry swallowed the pills.
“Did you and Brendon get into a fight,” she asked. Maddie glared at her. “What? Was it is parents?”
“He broke up with me,’ she began to bawl again. Tori was taken aback a bit.
“He broke up with you? What did you do now?!” Maddie swung her fist right into Tori’s arm. “What the hell,” she screamed at her while rubbing her injury.
“Why does everybody think I did something?! It was him being a dumbass!”
“Okay, well first, let’s stop the drinking,” she said, carefully pulling the bottle out of her hands. “How long have you been down here?”
“Since he dropped me off at like 2:30 this morning,” she wiped away her tears.
“2:30?! Oh jeez, get upstairs and go to bed,” she yelled at her. Maddie got up slowly and drug her feet upstairs. “And don’t come down until you feel sober,” she yelled up the stairs. On her way back to the kitchen, she picked up the phone and began to dial Gerard’s number. Before she pressed the call button, she heard another phone’s muffled ring. After looking around for a few seconds, she opened the fridge and saw Maddie’s cell phone right next to the eggs. It stopped ringing as soon as she spotted it. She picked it up and looked at the screen. 43 missed calls, all from Brendon
Before she had time to set it down, Brendon was calling again. “Hello,” she answered.
“Who’s this?”
“The boogeyman. Tell me what happened.”
“It’s none of your business. Where’s Maddie?”
“It’s none of your business.”
He sighed. “Whatever, just tell her I called.”
“43 times,” she raised an eyebrow.
“I made a mistake, okay,” he snapped.
Tori hung up the phone without answering and finally called Gerard.
“Hello?”
“What are you up too,” she asked, looking around the fridge.
“Nothing, is Ryan still over?”
“Only until tomorrow, but whatever. We can still hang out right?”
“Well, don’t you want to spend time with Ryan?”
“I do but you’re still my friend and such.”
“When Ryan’s gone, then I’ll come over.”
“Do you have something against him?”
“No, of course not. I got to go,” he said, hanging up on her.
She groaned at the phone before basically throwing it down on the counter and sitting at the table. Ryan came down a few minutes later and sat next to her.
“Hi,” he kissed her cheek.
“Hey,” she mumbled.
“What smells like spilt alcohol,” he kept his nose up to smell.
“Maddie downed a whole bottle of Vodka,” she said, looking at him.
“Is she okay?!”
“Her and Brendon broke up,” she sighed. “So no, not entirely.”
“Where is she now?”
“Sleeping, she was up all night.”
“That gives us plenty of time,” he smirked, kissing her neck. She smacked him on top of his head.
“What the hell?! Shouldn’t you go call Brendon or something?”
“He’ll be fine,” he said before his phone rang. He looked at the screen and signaled for her to wait a second. “Hello,” he answered his phone and waited. “Right now? I thought that was in a couple of days. …well do I have a choice? …fine, fine, whatever.” He hung up and looked at her. “I have to leave a day earlier than expected.”
“Are you serious?!”
“They mixed up meeting or something stupid and I need to go back,” he said, getting out of his seat. “I’ll be leaving in a moment,” he ran upstairs, while Tori commenced to bag her head on the table.
Maddie shot her head up. “Shit,” she held her head. She walked closer to her and noticed her holding a virtually empty bottle of Vodka.
