Kat's father is a seventh son, and her brother, Ocatavo, was supposed to be the seventh son, but she was born first. However, that didn't stop her from getting the powers. Only with the help of a talking familiar, a grumpy guard and an outcasted wizard can Kat go through the passage process and become a wizard herself.
