Being an army brat for all of his life, Jerome Washfield is used to being “the new kid.” After another forceful move , he finds himself attending his first day at Cadbury High School. Expecting the normal routine of pointing and stares, Jerome finds someone that fails to fade into the background—despite her lifestyle of speaking only when absolutely necessary. So infatuated, he is determined to be a part of her life, even though she has vowed to have a life void of friends or romantic interests. As he tries to disclose the mystery behind her silence, he finds a sad truth that makes “good timing” nonexistent.
