Katherine (Kat) Monroe has never heard of Hogwarts. Nor has she ever heard of Voldemort. She isn't even clear on who Harry Potter is either.
When she is accepted into Hogwarts, her abusive father refuses to let her go. Kat isn't even sure if she wants to go. But she will do anything to avoid her father and being beaten. When she decides to run away from home and go off to Hogwarts she meets her worst enemy, and the only person who will ever understand where she is coming from.
