A Series of Unfortunate Events

Part One

I stepped into the cold, harsh corridors of my high school.
Faces turned to look at me and fingers pointed.
Gils whispered in giggles to their friends and guys cracked their knuckles.
I gulped.

Everyday now, since the day they found me kissing another guy, I have been hated.
My friends stopped talking.
My parents disowned me.
My teachers quit caring.
And my class-mates use me as a human punching bag.

"Oi, faggot!"
Round one, here we go.
I turned around to look at one of the jocks of this school, Ryan Marchel.
My eyes grew wide and I felt his fist connect with my jaw.
I let out a grunt in agony as my own hand flung to its aid.
Ryan laughed and turned back to his friends.
High-fiving them on his way.

I continued my walk down to corridor.
And almost a second later felt someone tugging on my backpack.
I spun around and met Ted Johnson's face.
I trembled.
Ted was the biggest.
Ted was the meanest.
Ted was the one who could kill me.
I tried to shrink away.
He kept following me and I broke out into a sprint.

I could hear his feet pounding along besides mine and all of a sudden his face was in front of mine, blocking my path.
I stopped quickly and leant over, trying to catch my breath.
Fear still swimming though my veins.
"You can run, but you can't hide," Ted sneered.
I nodded, letting him know that, yet again, he had won.

His fist pounded into my rib cage, winding me in the process.
I wheezed, trying to gain my breath back.
His fist kept pummelling and I could hear my bones crack as they broke.
By now, my eyes were filled with water and my tears were streaming down my face.
Ted kept laughing.

Once he was satisfied he had broken as many ribs as possible, he dragged me out into the street.
He kicked me in the stomach and I collapsed to the ground.
Banging my head on the tarmac as I fell.
I shrieked in pain as his foot came into contact with my crotch.
"Oh, so there is something there then fag?" He cackled.
And I nodded my head, tears pouring down my face.
He laughed harder and nodded his head at somewhere I could not see.
"You're gonna get it now," he laughed and walked out of the road.
I heard a car engine revvining and my eyes widened further.
They were going to run me over!
I tried my hardest to move.
I tried my hardest to sit up.
But the pain I was in was making it unbearable and I fell back down.
My body racked as sobs came out of my mouth and I lay there, knowing that this was the end.
I watched as the car came speeding around the corner, Ted's friends leaning out of the window and howling with laughter.

I am the boy who never finished High School because I was called a 'fag' everyday.
