We're Here to Take Your Hearts

EIGHT

"Spencer, Clarissa's school called me. I called back and they said you picked her up." Pete spoke, clearly aggrivated.

"She kinda got in trouble. So she gets a two day vacation." Spencer replied.

"What!? She got suspended? For what!?"

"She yelled at some kid in the middle of class."

"What's she supposed to do all day when the guys come to town?"

"I'll watch her, don't worry."

"Well she is grounded. Do you hear me? GROUNDED!" Pete hung up.

Spencer sighed and put down his phone.

"Clarissa, that was Pete. He's not to happy so he said you're grounded." He said, trying not to upset her even more.

"I don't care. He's Pete Wentz he can do whatever he wants." She said. Spencer sighed as they pulled into the driveway.

"Answer me one question." Spencer said as they sat in the car.

"What."

"Are you sorry?"

"Never in a millon years."

"Clarissa! What are you doing home?" Brendon asked excitedly, clearly hyper off of Red Bull.

Clarissa ignored him and headed towards the stairs, when she was inturrupted by Pete coming down.

"My room. NOW!" He said, Sidekick in hand. He pointed up the stairs as she walked by him to his room. She got inside and Pete followed closing and knocking the door.

"I'm only going to ask this once. What the hell happened?" He said with a angry voice.

"I yelled at this kid."

"Why?"

"She said crap about me."

"What kind of crap could possibly piss you off enough to get you suspended! Huh!?" He yelled as he knocked an alarm clock off of his nightstand. Clarissa cringed at the loud crash. "I am busting my ass off to raise you and you repay me by getting into trouble over stupid shit! What the hell is wrong with you huh?"

Clarissa was silent, not sure how to answer his question.

"ANSWER ME!"

"I don't know..."

SLAP!]/i]

Clarissa's face swept sideways from the powerful hit. Pete's hand was red as was her right cheek.

"Get out of my face. You're grounded and I don't want to see you right now." He said calmly.

Clarissa began to walk for the door. "HURRY UP BEFORE I HIT YOU AGAIN!" He screamed. Clarissa ran out of the room, nearly knocking over William as he walked by.

"Woah, what's the hurry kiddo?" He asked, but Clarissa pushed past him and into her room, locking the door behind her.

"What did I do to deserve this?" She whispered to no one in particular. She tapped her knees furiously as she sat on her hard wooden floors. She wondered why there was no one that loved her like a daughter. She wondered how such a wonderful life could change so horrifingly.

She heard the garage door open and close, meaning Sarah was home. She stood up and peeked outside her door, making sure Pete was no where in site. She heard music blasting from his room, meaning he was in his room and wouldn't be out until dinner. She stepped out as quietly as she could and walked down the stairs. She walked into the kitchen to get a water for herself, she could see Sarah leaning against William's chest, while he had a lengthy arm wrapped around her proctectively.

"I love you dad." She said.

"I love you too, Sarah." He smiled.

A tear rolled down Clarissa's cheek as she walked back up the stairs. She shut her door, forgetting to lock her door, she walked to her window. She opened the shades and opened the window. She pulled off the screen and looked down. She eyed the storm drain, wondering if it was sturdy. She walked back to her dresser and grabbed her black backpack. She reached into her closet and grabbed a Stay Gold hoodie Patrick had gotten for her as a congratulations present for making the drumline. She put her backpack on her back and grabbed pocketed her cellphone. She climbed out the window an onto the storm drain. She slid down easily, leaving her the quiestion on how to get back in.

She walked down the now dark streets towards 'her spot'. She reached the main road and began walking, avoiding the street lights.

"CLARISSA! DINNER!" Brendon yelled from the kitchen. Sarah was already downstairs and so was Pete. Everyone was sitting at the table already. "Jon, go get her." Brendon said, serving everyone their plates of chicken and vegetables.

Jon got up from the table and walked up the stairs. "Clarissa! Yoo-hoo!" He said. He knocked on her door. There was obviously no answer. "Clarissa?" He said opening the door. He was met with by a screen unhooked from it's window, and her packpack and cellphone missing.

He turned on his heels and ran down the stairs franticly. He reached the kitchen out of breath.

"Jon, where's Clarissa?" Andy asked.

"She...not...in...room...window....open....backpack....cell...gone..." He said, completely out of breath.

"What!?"

"Let..me..catch...." Jon breathed for a while. "I walked into her room, and the screen is off her window. Her backpack and cellphone is gone. With her drumsticks and ipod."

Everyone got up from the table and ran up the stairs, Brendon leading the way. Her room was deserted as they tried to search for some sort of note.

"I told her she was grounded!" Pete yelled.

"That's not the point! The point is that she is out there alone and anything can happen to her! She could get kidnapped, raped, even killed!" Joe yelled.

"Listen, we'll search around town, she can't go far. If we can't find her we'll call the cops." William said calmly.

"We'll split up. Pete, you take Hemingway and take the main road with Patrick. William you take Sarah and Guy, go search all the music stores. Brendon, Joe, and Ryan go search all the bus stops. Andy, Spencer, Mike and Butcher, go search the trains. Everyone else go search one your own. I'll stay here because Gerard and the guys are coming in tonight, and incase Clarissa comes back on her own. Got it?" Jon said.

"Got it." Everyone was already heading out the door, but stopped dead in their tracks to the sound of Sarah's phone signaling she has a text. She opened it quickly as everyone turned their attention to her. Before she could read it, William grabbed her phone.

"It's from Clarissa." He said. He opened the text. "Dude, it's like in Spanish." He said confused.

"It's French." Sarah said softly.

"Sarah, you know where she is huh?" William asked.

"I don't know where she is, but I could read the text for you." She said. William handed her the phone. "It says: Can't tell you where I am, Can't tell you when or if I'll be back soon." Clarissa recited.

"Okay, do you have any idea where she might be?" William said kneeling down to her level. "Babe, the right thing to do is to tell us. She could get hurt, or somebody might hurt her." He said, trying to get through to his daughter by speaking softly. Sarah but her lip.

"She might be in the forest." She confessed.

"Why the forest?"

"She goes there to write and think. She never showed me the exact spot. Just the enterance."

"Can you lead us there? How many people do you think we'll need?"

"Alot, It's a big forest and she could be anywhere."

"Okay change of plans, we all go to the forest. You'll stay in your groups and we'll split up." William said.

Everyone nodded and ran out the door into the night towards the forest.
