Awake to Take in the View
For the both of us.
" Hey, Chris."
I sighed at the sound if a girl, obviously very young, and spun around.
I tried not seem tortured as the girl engulfed me in a hug and I hugged her back awkwardly.
" Oh, hey there hon," I greeted politely.
The girl's eyes sparkled as bright as her lip gloss when she spoke again.
" Oh my gosh! I love you so much!" she gushed," You are sooo sooo amazing! And you sung so great at today's show!"
" Really? Aw, thanks sweetheart. I'm glad you enjoyed the show."
" Yeah, I really did!" she beamed," So can I ,uh , take a picture with so you?"
"Sure," I said.
Just another smile for your scrapbooks.
She pulled out her camera and took her place by my side.
I smiled through clenched teeth, trying to not look annoyed.
The camera flashed brightly and I squinted.
" Thanks so much!" she said happily, looking very pleased.
" No problem darling," I replied," Well, I have to get going, but I'll see you here at another show, right?"
She nodded vigorously," Of course!"
" Awesome! Well, have a super night okay?"
" Thanks, you too!"
I waved goodbye and turned around.
I just hoped she wouldn't follow me.
After walking about a block, I looked over my shoulder, and thankfully she wasn't there.
I stopped in my tracks and looked around.
I didn't know where I was, or where I was going.
I was lost in this big city.
But It didn't matter.
I didn't need to know.
As long as I got away from the screaming fans.
I sat down on the steps of a random apartment and scratched my head.
I don't know what's happening to me.
I've created this false image for myself, and now all I can do is live up to it.
No matter how much I dread it.
I was tired of girls screaming how much they loved me, when in reality...
They knew nothing about me.
I was tired of everything
All I really need is my guitar, some will, and a best friend.
Some one who really loves me.
I reached into the pocket of my thick blue vest and pulled out a pack of cigarettes.
I lit one up and exhaled the smoke.
This life isn't what everyone says it's cut out to be.
-----------------------------------------------------------
I cursed as my head started to throb.
I need to focus on something...
To get my mind off of all this crap.
At that moment, the door of the apartment, whose steps I was sitting on, was slammed open.
I looked to see a beautiful girl crying and running out frantically.
She made eye contact with me quickly, attempted to sneer at me, and ran off.
I watched her run down the narrow sidewalk, snaking her way around the busy bodies, her light brown hair streaming behind her and I stood up.
I found a focus.
