Remember me.

chapter 4

A cry shrieks from the hallway; a sound so loud it could shatter even the strongest mirror. The shock overwhelms me, and I loose my footing. I begin to fall, falling into a never ending chasm. Crashing down, deeper and deeper. I collapse in a heap at the foot of the stairs, my body torn and crumpled. I rise to my feet almost instantly, and rush up the stairs. I start to pant. Blood trickles down my face. I must keep going. I reach the top, and I come to a doorway. I stop. The sight mortifies me.

It is her…
The girl…
My sister…

She lies there, screaming. I can see her. Only candles light her serene body, but it is enough. Blood begins to seep from the open wound on her torso. Her face becomes paler as life slowly leaves her. She begins to mutter her final words. “Remember me……”
I have.
And I always will…
