I continued to stare at him in disbelief
"What are you doing here?" I whispered to him urgently
"I came to apologize," he replied, I was suddenly happy that he came. The little mistake he made didn't matter anymore.
"Okay, apology accepted now shoo! I still have homework and my Mom might hear you and chase you with a bat across the lawn," I said with a smile.
"No," he refused, "I want to take you somewhere," he added then my jaw dropped, I quickly regained composure and replied with,
"Uh, hold on," I then quickly ran to the living room where my mom was still watching T.V.
"Momma, can I go out for a bit?"
"With who and where?"
"With Jack, I don't really know. He's waiting outside for me." I answered
"M'kay, but only because its the weekend," she said with a suspicious look on her face "Be back home before midnight."
"Thanks mom!" I said quickly then ran up to my room pulled on my shoes and quickly grabbed my gray Element sweater then ran back downstairs and made my way to Jack who was sitting against the side of the house. He was watching the stars and was absentmindedly pulling bits of grass from the ground.
"Hey," I said softly not wanting to startle him, he looked at me smiled and stood up and walked towards his car. I followed and sat in the passengers seat
"So where are you taking me on this lovely evening?" I asked him with a light tone my voice
"It's a secret," Jack replied with a smirk and keeping his eyes on the road
"Not even a hint?" I prodded
"Nuh-uh." he replied. I sighed gave up and then began to stare out the window watching the houses and trees go by, listening to the purr of Jack's car. Before I knew it I had fallen asleep
When I had woken up Jack was sitting there, silently looking me
"Jack?" I said sleepily "What are you doing?"
"Being a creeper and watching you sleep," He said with a huge adorable grin
I gave him a look, "Okaaaay, where are we anywho?" I asked looking around then noticing the time on the dashboard it was 8:30PM which meant I had been asleep for only 15 minutes
"At the lake," he said then opened his door, stepped out then bent down to talk to me "You coming?" he says excitedly
"Yeah," I said just before I stretched and then stepped out of the car.
The lake was beautiful with the pale moonlight bouncing off of its soft waves. I saw Jack walk over to the end of the dock and sat down letting his legs dangle over the end. I went to go sit next to him and took off my shoes then let my toes lightly graze over the water it felt nice and warm which didn't make sense cause the air was very cold
"So why'd you wanna take me out here?" I asked, looking at him curiously
He stared at me blankly "You don't remember?" he said. I shook my head trying to recall anything familiar. I started to recognize the way the trees hung over the lake.
"Wait," I said before he could tell me anything "Is this the same lake where we used to go swimming in every weekend?" he then nodded and gave me a wide smile "Remember the time when I said there was a lake monster that lived here?" he said
"Hah, yeah. I actually believed you. I didn't even wanna be within a 10 mile radius of this place," I replied "But then you said you were kidding and I pushed you in." I finished with a sweet smile
"Hey, I never got my revenge," He said with a mischievous smirk
"Ohhhh no," I said as I begun to stand up "No no no no," He started to get up also, I started backing away from him
"Jack! Don't you dare pu-" I didn't get to finish my sentence cause as soon as I said his name he ran up to me and shoved me into the semi-cold lake. I resurfaced as fast as I could then climbed back up the dock, Jack was doubling over in laughter while he was doing that I sneak up on him and pushed him into the lake. Only problem was he dragged me down with him.
"Bah!" I yell as I went down and felt the water splash against every inch of my skin
"Dammit, Megan!" He cursed jokingly
"Hah! You thought I'd let you get away with pushing me in? Psh!" I replied while trying to stay afloat I kept my legs moving, right leg forward then left then right while still waving my arms around underneath the water. Jack was doing the same except his legs was doing a scissoring motion.
"Hell yeah, you pushover. Pah! Get it? Push... over?" He then started laughing out loud as if it was the funniest joke he had ever came up with
"Okay, Jack. Calm down," I said with a smile as I started to swim towards the shore and when I got close enough to the ground I started walking, I then realized Jack had followed me, as soon as I reached the shore I started to peel of my wet t-shirt
"Woah, woah, woah!" He said covering his eyes "What are you doing!?"
"Well, you don't expect me to swim with all this extra weight weighing me down do you?" I asked him as I yanked off my shirt and pants and laid them flat on top of the hood of the car, leaving me in my underwear. I then ran full speed toward the dock and did a front flip into the water, I felt something hit my head... hard. Next thing I knew I blacked out.
