I Fell In Love When I Least Expected to...

“Selene…” I heard him whisper.
My eyes widened as every single head turned to look at me.
Lucian was smiling while the girls were grinning. Nate seemed a little off but he was trying not to show it.
I tore my gaze from them and turned to look at the King, who was smiling broadly. I then looked at Alex who hadn’t moved a muscle.
He just stood there looking at me.
The King’s voice boomed in the now quiet Ball room.

“Princess of the Lycans… Selene” he called for me.
It was as if my body had a mind of its own because my feet took me there. I was in front of the King in seconds.

He gave me a short hug and pushed me slightly towards Alex.
I stumbled and I was about to fall when Alex caught me.
He looked deep into my eyes and I felt tears welling up in my own.
I closed my eyes for only a moment and when I opened them, I was at the balcony with Alex.

“Why did you never tell me?” he asked his voice barely above a whisper.
“What was I supposed to say? That I was a Princess? That my parents were murdered in front of me and that I was caught to become a pet, while Lucian got away and became the Alpha? That I…” I cut myself off at that.
I couldn’t tell him I love him… not now.

“That you what?” Alex said coming closer to me.
I looked into his eyes as his arms wrapped around me, pulling me closer to him.
He leaned forward and I did too… but our moment was interrupted.

“Well, well, well… Look what we have here” Damien said from the shadows. About ten other vampires appeared and surrounded us.
Alex’s grip on me tightened as his eyes turned blood red.
Wow he was angry… very angry.
“You piece of scum… you better run before I get my hands on you…” Alex growled.
“That won’t be necessary. I have you right where I want you” Damien smirked as he took out a gun.
I knew the gun had silver bullets and that he was planning to kill Alex with that. He couldn’t kill me because for some reason silver didn’t affect me.

He pointed the gun right at his heart and just as he pulled the trigger, I pushed Alex out of the way.
The gun hit me just above my heart and I screamed out in pain.
I wasn’t in my lycan form and this hurt far worse than it normally would.

Lucian, Nate, Felix, Amy, Lucas, Belle, Melanie, Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire and Pearl were next to us within a second.
I blinked back the tears as Pearl looked at my wound. She mumbled something and I could feel my wound healing… who knew she was a witch too?

I stood up with her help and faced Damien.
“You shouldn’t have done that to my sister” Lucian said as he transformed.
Nate, Melanie, Emerald, Ruby and Sapphire transformed too and growled menacingly.
Felix, Amy and Lucas were by Alex’s side hissing at Damien.
Pearl and Belle helped me stand.
I couldn’t let them get hurt… he still had the gun…

“You want me. Don’t hurt the others” I said as I walked towards Damien.
A hand pulled me back.
“He doesn’t want you… He wants me” Alex said as he glared at Damien.
“I’m glad you realized” Damien said sarcastically.
“Too bad he’s not going to have you” I snarled as I transformed.
I attacked Damien before anyone else could move.
Right one cue, the vampires attacked my friends.
Pearl and Belle transformed just in time to avoid their attackers.

I focused on Damien as I fought with him. He tried shooting me but I threw the gun away from his hands. He tried biting me but I avoided it every time.
Alex appeared out of nowhere and punched Damien. Damien staggered back a little bit, giving Alex time to pounce on him.
His claws and fangs protracted as he fought with Damien.
I heard a hiss from behind me only to find a vampire there. I knew her too… Damien’s sister. She was the one that had paid me a visit in that cell.

I growled at her and I let her have the first move. I tore her to pieces and signaled for Pearl.
She had just finished off her vampire and now she was setting fire on his corpse. She cast a spell so the dead woman in front of me would burn too, as well as all the other vampires.

I turned to look at Alex who was winning the fight.
Wait… were they arguing too?!

“I should be King! You should burn in hell with that mutt of yours!” Damien yelled as he aimed a hit at Alex.
“Leave her out of this!” Alex said as he dodged the hit.
“Why?! You wanted her gone, remember? You didn’t want her a month ago! You don’t love her!!!” Damien screamed as he hit Alex in the stomach.
Alex flew back to the wall and growled as he stood up.
He seemed angrier than ever now as he pounced on Damien.
“You don’t know that” he said before sinking his fangs in Damien’s neck.
Damien screamed as Alex tore him to pieces.
Pearl snapped her fingers and Damien caught on fire.
He screamed once more before silence was all that could be heard.

I looked at all my friends who were smiling at me. They were all fine… I then looked at Alex. The wounds on his arms were healing as he looked back at me.
“Alex…” I mumbled as I ran to him.
He caught me and hugged me tightly.
Tears fell from my eyes as I returned the hug.
“Don’t cry, love… everything is okay now” Alex said soothingly.
I looked up at him and decided that he had to know… I had to show him how much he meant to me…
So I kissed him. It took him a minute to realize what I was doing but he kissed me back. The kiss was filled with love and passion. I could feel butterflies in my stomach and my heart beating fast.
We pulled away and looked into each others eyes.
“I love you” he whispered.
“I love you too” I said as he kissed me again.

We pulled apart and looked at our friends… they were all smiling at us.
“I think Alex has an announcement to make?” Lucian asked as he led everyone inside.
The people inside didn’t seem to have noticed what had been going on outside.
Pearl snapped her fingers and all of us looked good as new. No blood stains or anything that showed that we had just gotten in a fight.

Alex took my hand and led me on the stage.
“As I was saying earlier… I choose Princess Selene, sister of King Lucian, Alpha of the Lycans” Alex said facing the people in front of us.
“…if of course she’ll have me” he continued as he turned to face me.
“I think I’ll manage just fine” I said smiling at him.
He smiled and got on one knee. I couldn’t help but grin as he took a very familiar ring out of his pocket.
“Selene, will you be mine?” he asked.
“Forever” I replied as he put the ring in its rightful place… on my finger.

He embraced me and kissed me passionately as everyone cheered.

We pulled apart from each other and smiled.
“I love you” I told him as I intertwined our fingers.
“I love you too” Alex said as he led me to the dance floor.
We danced the first song together enjoying each others company… His smile, my arms around him, the passion and love that burned in both our eyes… and this was just the beginning.

I suppose you are all wondering… How did it all come to this?
I don’t know but all I can tell you is… everything is how it should be.
I love Alex and nothing’s ever going to come between us… ever again.
