More to Life

Chapter 3

We were about two blocks away from Starbucks, and the car was filled with an awkward silence.

"Don't get mad at me for saying this. You probably hear this all the time, but you still look like your fifteen." I looked over at him and couldn't help but to laugh. I get told that so many times. For some reason, hearing it from him, still happened to shock me.

"Why would I get mad. At least I don't look old. That's a good thing to know." I looked back at the road in front of us. He didn't take his eyes off, but he smiled.

"For that reason, the fact that you must hear it a lot." Yes, I do. There was another silence, but it was only for a little while. "I like it when you laugh. It's relaxing." Ok, I've never been told that before. Knowing that someone likes my laugh, that makes me smile real big. I like this feeling.

The next thing I knew, we were getting out of the car and walking inside. Trace opened and held the door open for me, so polite, and walked in after me. I couldn't help but to notice that everyone was staring. What's wrong with these people? We walked up to the counter as they took our order.

"I would like a tall Green Tea and," he looked down at me.

"Oh! Um, I'll just have a water." He handed him the money for his drink. Mine was free, just because of the fact that it was hot out side. But little did the guy know, we drove here. Trace and I sat down a little table for two.

"Water? Do you not drink coffee or anything?" He was smiling.

"No, in fact, I think coffee is nasty. I just never really got into it." I looked down at my hands.

"That's interesting. An adult that doesn't like coffee." I looked back up and he was looking at the ceiling. I must be boring. "So, what do you do as a living?"

"Well, some bands hire me to take pictures for them during concerts. They let me in for free. Other then that, I'm taking college classes over the internet."

"Really? You're a band photographer now? That's rad. What was the last band that you photographed?" He focused his attention on me. This made me a little nervous.

"Well, I did The Devil Wears Prada. I got to meet them and everything. They invited me to go out to eat dinner, but I had to work on their pictures. At least if they wanted them before they left. They were kinda bummed about it though." I laughed a little nervously.

"Why did you do that! They could of stayed longer if they wanted to."

"But that would mean shorter time to get ready for their next show. I didn't know how far they had to go."

"Trace! Oh my gosh, I haven't seen you smile in a long time." I looked behind me, and someone was carrying our drinks to us. That made me blush.

"I see you got yourself a beautiful girl. And you should introduce me to her." The guy had black hair that he started to grow out. His eyes were rounded and really pretty.

"Ethan, we aren't dating. Ally, this is one of my buds, Ethan. Ethan, this is my friend from high school, Ally."

"Well then, I hope you don't mind if I take her home with me." Ethan looked at me smiling, showing off his bright teeth. They were so perfect. I bet he could be a model if he wanted to be.

"Actually, she's just visiting. Sorry." Trace looked at him like he was scared. I just looked back and forth between them.

"Ho, ho. Looks like you do have some feeling for her." Ethan leaned in closer to him so that I couldn't hear. Then Trace blushed a deep red and looked at me. Ethan just smiled and stood up.

"You better take her in Trace, you might loose her to me." He started to laugh, then walked away.
