Sequel: One Heart

In My Dreams It's Me And You

Curiosity Killed The Nat

After a long shower I couldn’t help but feel refreshed; the hot water just seemed to shake off any lingering effects of the hangover from earlier. That was certainly one thing I was glad to get rid of.

Since Brian came with me he had decided to wait downstairs while I got ready instead of heading on to Zacky’s, ironically playing his band’s own song- Beast and the Harlot- on Guitar Hero. The fact he was playing the song on a plastic peripheral even though he could on an actual guitar made me laugh; at least I had the excuse of not being as good as him, but doing badly on a game was just lame.

Instead of bothering with a whole new change I just exchanged my jeans for a black, layered skirt that had a feather motif across the left side and hem that stopped just above mid-thigh, and since I didn’t actually manage to find my heels from last night I slipped on my knee-high boots, or rather as Chloe lovingly called them, my whore boots. I pulled Brian’s hoodie back over my head instead of finding anything else, smiling softly as I thought how he had freely given me it. I split my hair into two bunches and loosely plaited them, only bothering with a touch of foundation and mascara for make-up as I went back downstairs.

It had just gone about 8pm when I heard Brian talking, so instead of going straight into the room I decided to wait outside. Sure eavesdropping is bad, but I was curious.

Brian’s POV

As Zacky flashed up on the caller ID Brian sighed before flipping the phone open, knowing instantly what the first question would be.

“When are you coming man? The party is waiting to start.”

Brian laughed. “Yeah right, you’re probably just all sitting around on your fat asses watching the TV.”

“My ass is not fat! It’s sexy as hell I'll have you know. Chloe can tell you that.”

He heard a female voice say “what” in the background, probably Chloe from the sounds of it. After that came a slight whine from Zacky as he guessed she had hit him after figuring out what he had said, murmuring a quick sorry from the phone before retreating back.

“Having fun with Chloe then?” Brian joked, already picturing a comedic relationship in his head.

“Yeah she’s-” He paused for a while before speaking again. A sharp noise sounded followed after by a long exhale- probably smoking. “Sorry, went outside. And yeah, Chloe’s great. Ball of energy, I swear.”

Brian gasped mockingly. “Someone has tired out the Vengeance?”

“Fuck you Syn-”

“I’m good thanks. You should ask Chloe though; she might be up to it.”

He couldn’t resist laughing as Zacky yelled a string of curses at him down the phone, pulling the receiver from his ear until they died down. “God Zack, don’t try and deafen me or anything. I was only messing with you.”

He heard something vaguely like a ‘humph’ during the time Zacky decided not to talk to him, glancing at the clock that read 8:00pm with a sigh. Why do women take so long to get ready?

“So... what’s going on with you and Nat?”

The sudden question caught him off guard. “What?”

“You and Nat. Do you really expect us to think that nothing is going on? You abandoned us for her, man. I mean I know you wanted to see she was alright and everything, but three weeks stuck to her is a bit excessive. Plus Val-”

“What did Val say?” Brian said sharply, mentally cursing himself for last night’s conversation instantly.

Zacky’s tone instantly lightened at his defensive manner. “What did you tell her?”

Brian huffed in reply.

“Aw come on. I thought we were friends,” Zacky whined, forcing Brian to sigh out of annoyance. He knew if he didn’t tell that he would just keep getting bugged, so might as well get it done with now.

“I think she’s it.”

Silence.
Then a cheering seemed to erupt from the other end.

“So the great Synyster Gates has finally been caught? What happened to that great long ass speech you did about ‘leading the single life’, eh?”

“Well...” He paused, leaning lengthways across the couch, his free arm behind his head. “I guess she changed that. She’s amazing, she’s funny, her smile is gorgeous- not to mention her just in general. She’s perfect; perfect in every way.”

He smiled just describing her, the very thought making him happy.

“I KNEW IT!”

Brian was taken aback by the screaming voice, looking at the phone as if it had suddenly become some sort of monster. “What the fuck Zack! He frowned as the voice quietened down, realising that it was no longer Zacky talking. “Who’s this?”

The person laughed before replying, “Chloe.”

So much for ‘I thought we were friends’ Vengeance.

“Sorry man, I didn’t realise she followed me outside,” Zacky apologised quickly, sounding guilty.

“You have me on speaker?” What else did she hear...?

“Well...err... sorry man. It’s easier you know? Anyway, when are you coming-?”

Chloe cut him off, quickly demanding, “When are you going to tell her?”

“I don’t know. I wasn’t going to.”

The phone went silent for a few moments; making him cringe from the onslaught he knew was coming. But it didn’t.

She sighed despondently before leaving, her footsteps soon fading into the background as he heard the door slam shut.

“Syn, you’ll have to tell her how you feel. It’s not fair to just leave it. On either of you.”

The fact that Zacky had seemingly turned into his own personal counsellor just made him feel even worse. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to tell her, it was more of the fact he didn’t want to be rejected by her. What if she didn’t feel the same way? He wouldn’t know what to do.

“I know it’s not fair on her. I’ll tell her soon. I’ll see you later.”

He flipped the cell shut with a sigh, turning his attention to the photos that lined the windowsill. His gaze locked onto the one Nathalie showed him at the hospital, of her and Chloe at their party. As her captured smile beamed down on him he couldn’t help but smile in reply, knowing that what he had said was true.

Perfect; perfect in every way.

The change of writing perspective is still through Brian, just that I done it as third person through him...

I don't know :X

Enjoy.
