Sequel: One Heart

In My Dreams It's Me And You

Connections

For the next week or so Brian kept me company in the hospital, practically only leaving when he had to go get some clean clothes to change to. It certainly helped with the whole hospital phobia thing, especially when he got my guitar out and played Seize the Day for me after rifling through my iPod a few days ago, his soft voice complimenting the music perfectly.

“I didn’t know you could play. Thank you, it was beautiful,” I mused just as he finished, leaning my head against his shoulder as he leant the guitar against the side of the bed. Even though we hadn’t known each other long and he was pretty much the reason why I was here we just seemed to connect, although it was probably made easier from the fact we basically liked all the same things. Well, mostly.

“You never asked if I could,” Brian chuckled as he doodled random patterns on my thigh, a small smile brought to his lips from the action.

“I just wish I could hear M Shadows sing it next week,” I moaned, my hand pulling at his fluffy hair from where he had been sleeping. He never slept in the visitor’s bed after the first day I woke up which he blamed on it being uncomfortable, but I couldn’t personally see it. I sat on it for a while and thought it was fine.

However last night we fell asleep before he moved from my bed to the chair as he normally did, but I didn’t see the point in complaining. If anything I actually slept better- probably because he had curled his body round mine which meant I didn’t move in the night and agitate my broken bones.

“Well why can’t you? Do you not have tickets or something?” He asked with a grimace as I pulled just too tightly at his hair, causing me to laugh before continuing on but a little more carefully this time.

“Of course I do, I’ve had them since the first day. Me and Chloe were going to go, but she was only going to come with me for company. Avenged Sevenfold isn’t really her type of music,” I muttered under my breath as he chuckled at my reply, snaking his arm around my back and gently drawing me closer. “Although I don’t think my body would hold up in the pits now.”

“Well I could probably help you out there, if you were still interested in going,” Brian replied as I pulled back, a mischievous grin greeting me.

“What? How?” I said as I narrowed me eyes at him, watching as he slid himself carefully from underneath me and pulled out a bag that he had pushed under the chair. He rummaged through it for a while chucking out various clothes before he pulled out two plastic cards each suspended upon a black string, dangling them in front of me triumphantly.

“I was going to give them to you a couple of days from now, but considering you are being let out today I thought you might like them early.”

“No WAY!” I screeched as I tore them out of his grasp and immediately strung one around my neck, not even being able to stop myself as I bounced excitedly up and down on the bed despite the painful spots developing across my chest. Nothing could dampen this moment. “How did you manage these?”

“Connections, Nat. Connections.”

Brian’s POV

Watching Nat when I gave her the backstage passes was like watching a toddler after you had given them a huge lollypop- it was just so cute. Although I wasn’t sure that jumping up and down was a good idea with your chest basically being a jigsaw puzzle so I quickly brought my arms around her and gently drew her back until she was leaning against me. I don’t know what it was but I always seemed to worry when she wasn’t in my arms- even if I was just on the chair I still found it hard to sleep since I kept on waking up to check on her.

“Hey! Calm down otherwise I’ll take them back,” I warned, to which she calmed down almost instantly and just laid there looking up at me with a pout on her face.

“Briiiaaaannnn! That’s not fair!” She whined, punching me weakly in the chest before snuggling in closer. I wouldn’t have minded staying like this if it wasn’t for the fact I was taking Nat home today.

“Come on, you have to get your stuff together. You’re going home today, remember?” I reminded as I slid out from underneath her to begin shoving my own stuff into the duffel bag I brought with me one night, turning back only to find that she hadn’t moved at all. She looked almost… sad, like she didn’t want to go. All I had been hearing for the past few days between our conversations was how much she wanted to go, and I could tell just by the way she moved sometimes how much she hated being here. “Hey Nat… you alright?”

Since she didn’t reply I edged closer to the bed, stopping when I saw the tremble that was shaking at her shoulders. “Nathalie?”

“I don’t want to go home,” she murmured, her voice cracking as if she were about to cry.

I sat down on the edge of the bed and turned back to look at her. “I thought you didn’t like hospitals.”

“I don’t.”

“Then why…?”

“Because as soon as I go home, you’ll just disappear,” she explained sadly, her hands fumbling over the wet patch that appeared on the pass around her neck.

Even though I felt the same I couldn’t help but think that she thought I was just going to leave her as soon as I could- if it wasn’t for the fact I had broken her in the first place I probably would have asked her out. I didn’t know what it was, but something about her just made me want to have her all to myself, to protect her from everyone.

“And what makes you think that’s going to happen?” I asked softly as I moved behind her, wrapping my arms loosely around her waist. “How can I leave you alone? Can’t have you being hit by any more cars, now can I?”

She shook to the point where I thought I had made her cry more, but as soon as I heard her I couldn’t help but join in laughing.

“I guess not,” she chuckled as she turned backwards to peck me on the cheek before sliding off the bed to pack up her own things. I could only watch her in shock as I ran my fingers across my cheek, trying to figure out what it meant. Did she mean anything by it? Was she being friendly, or did she like me too?

… too? I didn’t like her in that way… did I?

“Brian?”

I looked up to see Nathalie staring at me with those beautiful blue eyes, my own transfixed by them. She said something else but I didn’t know what it was, my mind just completely absorbed in the tranquil colours. That was until I felt something shove me in the shoulder and snap me out of my dreaming.

“Come on, dreamer. I’m ready to go,” Nat said as she stood with all her things already in bags around her, my own still only half-packed with the rest of my stuff littered about the floor.

I quickly rounded up the rest and slung the duffel bag over my shoulder, picking up Nat’s on the way out before she could herself. She pouted at me for a few moments before joining me as we walked out the hospital, stopping just as we reached the parking lot.

“Erm… Brian? Where’s your car? I’m guessing I kind of ruined your last one…”

“Nah, that wasn’t my car,” I replied casually as I set off through the parking lot, looking back just to check if she was still following me or not. “That was Matt’s, I got stuck with designated driver the night before so I was the only one who didn’t have a horrible hangover the next day. Although I can’t say they still had it after we met you though.”

She braced her chest as she laughed gently, knowing that if she pushed it any more it would just start hurting again. Since she was recovering pretty quickly on her own and could move a lot more then she could before the doctors decided to let her out early, which was very helpful considering I was hoping she could go to the next gig. However I don’t think it clicked in her mind yet that I was going to be there as well… on the stage anyway.

“Are you coming with me next week then?” Nat asked just as I stopped by the side of my car. I turned up to reply when I saw the look of shock on her face as I dumped all our stuff into the front before opening the driver door, putting one foot inside before chuckling at the fact she was still holding the same expression.

“If you want me to,” I said, my words snapping her out of whatever trance she was in. “It’s a Lamborghini Murciélago, if you were interested.”

She hesitated before reaching for the door with her hand, pausing just to reply before getting in. “It’s a nice car, that’s what it is.”

I laughed before joining her in the car, reaching over to help with the maze of seatbelts before doing my own and starting the engine. She then turned to me just as I was getting ready to reverse out of the space, a grin spreading on her lips.

“But mine is nicer.”

Chapter 3 for you all :)

It's a bit slow moving for a chapter or so, so I might post them all in one big chunk =/

(( I personally like Lamborghinis, so I thought why not let Brian have one, lol ))
