Your Smile, Bert

Ghost Train Out

Standing outside and waiting for the buses, it was cloudy. It looked as if it might storm. I love the rain though. I like it much better in the summer.

Bob and I stood out in front of the building holding hands. He was going to ride the bus home with me. I thought it would be easier that way.

"See you at the mall Laycie. Oh, wait, no I won't. Your ditching us." Laura teased.

I rolled my eyes. "She's crazy."

Bob smiled a little.

The first set of buses pulled around. So, I approached the area where my bus would pull up. And, as it did, I took a seat and Bob sat next to me.

Bert got onto the bus. He stopped at the seat I was in. "What the fuck is this?" he asked.

I looked oddly at him. "What are you talking about?"

"Your replacing me by letting him use my seat."

"I'll move." Bob said.

"No, you won't." I said, "Bert chill out."

"Me, chill out? Alright Laycie, your right, I should totally chill." He sat in front of us. "By the way, Laycie, fuck off."

I looked oddly at the back of Bert's head.

"I didn't--" Bob started.

"You don't worry about it." I said. I looked across the aisle at Gerard.

Gerard shot me a look.

Is today just confuse the hell out of me day?

The bus ride was silent. We reached my house quickly enough. The five us walked up the street to my house, still in silence. I was kind of glad though considering no one wants to tell me what's going on.

"Hey, Gerard, you wouldn't give me a ride to the mall later? I can find a ride home." Bert said.

"Sure." Gerard replied.

"Um, no." I said, "I'm not going to be there to babysit. So, no way."

"Why do you care?" Bert said.

"I do care. I don't need you going and doing stupid shit." I said.

"I'm not going to go do stupid shit." Bert said as we entered the house. Mom must not have cared to much, she's not even home.

"Yeah, you will." I said.

"I won't."

"You will, don't lie to me."

"I will not!" Bert exclaimed.

"What the fuck ever."

Bert rolled his eyes and went to the living room.

"Would you like a tour of the house?" I asked Bob.

"Uh, sure..." he replied.

So, I gave Bob a tour of the house, that ended in my room where we stayed.

"Don't you dare shut the door." Gerard said.

I rolled my eyes. "Okay, mother."

He laughed.

I turned on my television. "This is the most entertainment I can give you." I said laughing.

"No, I can say I've been fairly entertained." Bob said. "A little confused, but whatever."

I sighed. "I don't even know."

Mikey poked his head in the door. "Hey, Laycie, have you seen the PlayStation?"

"Did you check the living room where it always is?" I asked.

"Ha, I should definitely do that."

"You're a nerd." I said.

Mikey rolled his eyes. "Shut up." he left my doorway.

I laughed. "I love picking on him. It's so funny."

Bob smiled. "The brother and sister thing."

"Yeah, and we're twins. He's the smart one." I laughed.

"And, your the evil one?" he asked.

I smiled. "Maybe."

I could hear Bert singing through the house. Ghost Train Out. "Pack your bags and leave tonight, Can't you see, That there's something not quite right. My doors are locked tonight.
You wanna run? I thought you might.
There's a train that stops for no-one.
There's a train that leaves tonight.

And I said, Maybe baby, baby, Come on. Come on. You'll be alright.

And I said, Maybe you can do, No wrong. Come on. You'll be alright."

He entered the hall way. "Please don't look at me that way, If I could, I would leave so you could stay. I live without your face. It's drawn in flesh. It's drawn in haste."

"Alright, Bert." I said.

He continued, "He's the one that looked just like you! He's the one who'll take your place!

And I said, Maybe baby, baby. Come on. Come on. You'll be alright."

I sighed. "I can't hear the TV."

Bert left the hall.

"I don't know why he's acting like a total dick." I said.

Bob shrugged, "It's alright. I like that song."

I laughed. "Hey, me too."

"I'm taking Bert, you two behave." Gerard said.

I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, but your not taking him anywhere. He has no babysitter. He'll get in trouble."

"He really wants to go."

"Fine." I said. "I'll be right back." I told Bob. I followed Gerard to the door where Bert was. "Hey Bert, don't so doing stupid shit."

"We went over this already, I won't." he said.

"Your lying."

"So, what do you care?" he went out the door. Gerard followed him.

I made my way back down the hall to my room. I sighed and sat back down on the floor next to Bob.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

"I'm just concerned that Bert is going to go to the mall and then get with the wrong people and do drugs." I said.

"Oh, well if he doesn't have enough sense not to, then let him." Bob shrugged.

"I guess your right. But, I just can't help but worry, he's like my child."

"Yeah, is he always over here?" he asked, "If you don't mind me asking."

"Pretty much, he's like my third brother. His house is not his favorite place to be. I don't mind, I mean he's my best friend. But, the way he's been acting lately is not what I want in a best friend."

Bob nodded. "Well, it seems to me that he has a thing for you."

"A thing?"

"Yeah, it does." Bob said, I couldn't tell if he was getting mad. I would hope not.

"No, he's my best friend. That's it." I said.

Bob shrugged and hugged me. I smiled and kissed him. This wasn't one of those small kisses, this was turning into a make-out session. I definitely didn't mind.

As, I kept kissing him, I couldn't help but wondering if this was what moving to fast is.
