Jessie showed up, unexpected. I hadn't bathed in three days, forgot to brush my hair. I had even ignored my mother until she would start screaming in agony. I answered the door, opening it only enough so he could see my face.

"yeah?" I asked, my throat sore from my lack of sleep. My eyes burned from the lack of remembering daylight. I tried not to look him in the eye. I tried to stay focused on the faux red bloodstain on his shirt. This would be easier that way.

"I just came by. You know, to say sorry. The other day, i overreacted. I just, don't want you to end up getting hurt over this. I know you're going through a hard time right now. I just hope you can forgive me."
