Monster, Monster

The Rest Moved Faster

That Saturday when dad was out of town and Patricia went to bed early, Jessie snuck through my window, silent and careful. We stayed up all night and watched movies all night. We shared ice creams, laughed out of control until we remembered it was a secret, and then settled down around four in the morning. We laid down for the night, both of us tired with dark circles under our eyes. He rubbed my back gently, intertwined our legs and ran his only free hand through my hair, holding my head to his chest so that he could smell my hair. I could feel all the muscles on his body, relaxing yet tense. This is what it was supposed to feel like, right? I wasn't so sure. i didn't know what it was supposed to feel like. I just knew that this felt so good, I didn't want to forget.
