But When Your Mummy Dies, She Will Not Return

Chapter 12

I laughed slightly at her, as she was feeding the birds. Her little stomach got a lot of attention. but she just shrugged off all the people that were looking at her. Not her fault, she cannot be the judge for when a condom breaks.

"Jesus Christ," she mumbled, walking over to me. The birds fallowed her, as she walked in a circle around me. I chuckled, grabbing her hand and and walking down the sidewalk. She looked back, the birds still fallowing her.

She sighed, laying her hand across her stomach, her other rubbing circles with her thumb. "Do yeh want tea?" I asked. She shook her head.

"Can't have caffeine, well, for that matter, lots of things." I nodded, as another couple sneered at us. Jeez, be a little sympathetic for us, you're not the one with a child on the way and being a teenager too.

"Well, are yeh hungry?" I asked, looking down at her. Her eyes looked back at me.

"I currently have another person in me right now. I'm always hungry."

I chuckled, nodding my head. "True." She smiled up at me, before she pulled me into a cafe.

After Andy's little panic attack, and us calming him down, he started asking us questions.

"Are we going to move into Daddy's house? Where does Daddy live? Do I have more brothers or sisters? What about grandparents? What are their names?"

I looked over at Harley, her eyes quite big. She obviously never heard him talk so much.

"Andy, Andy," she cooed. "Ander!" He looked over at her, stopping his walking around.

"What?" he asked. She shook her head, sighing lightly.

"Andy, Mum and I, we don't know how this is goin' to work, but we're goin' to make it." He nodded.

"Are you and Dad going to get married?" Andy asked, looking up at his Mom. She shrugged.

"I don't know."

"That'd be cool if you did." He climbed up the couch, sitting comfortably on our laps.

I looked over at her, her smiled coming into view. It was little, and not the one I liked, but it still looked cute enough.

"So," she said, looking at everyone, "did you guys not go out. You were back quickly."

"Weh made it there, than figured out that no one had any money," Vegan said, sneering a bit.

"And I'm still hungry," Andy whined. I chuckled.

"Well, lets go get something to eat," she said, getting up. We fallowed her out, as she got on her coat and locked up. I thought of how much longer we'd have till we'd have to go. Four days. I sighed, running a hand through my hair. She walked up to me, as I gripped onto her hand. She smiled up at me, before asking Andy to come take her hand.

Andy walked over to us, still trying to get on his little hat. She let go of my hand, before helping Andy with his hat. She got back up, before taking my hand and his.

We walked down the sidewalk, the smell of sweet smoke drifting into my nose, as they all had a ciggy in their hands. I wanted one, but knew I couldn't smoke around Andy. I sighed. The things I would do for one.

Harley looked over at me, squeezing my hand lightly, I looked over at her, and nodded.

"You going to be okay?" she asked. I nodded.

"Just kind of want a ciggeh," I said. She nodded.

"Do you want to see if we can eat outside?" I nodded, looking at Andy. His eyes wondered ahead of us, looking the group of guys. Oliver looked back at us, before he turned his head back, blowing out the smoke.

We walked to the cafe, and got a seat. Andy sat away from us, wedged in between Matt and Oliver. I lite up a cigarette, blowing the smoke away from Andy. Second hand smoke for a boy that little would suck. It still smelled, for Harley placed a hand over her nose.

"Do yeh - "

"No, no, no," she said, waving her hand at me. "Finish it." I nodded, trying to quickly finish it. But you can only smoke one so fast. I dropped it on the ground, glad that the nasty little habit wasn't making me fidget that much.

We ordered our food, and sat around.

"So, Harley, are yeh finkin' about movin'?" Vegan asked.

She shrugged next to me, as she played with her coat string. "I was thinking about it, I just don't know yet."

"Well, yeh should," Oli grumbled, as our waitress walked over to us.

"Here you go," she mumbled, placing the food in front of us. Andy smiled down at his food, before going into it.

"Yeh know, And, yeh really shouldn't eat - "

"Oliver," she mumbled, trying to get the ketchup out of the bottle.

"Wha'? I'm just saying, yeh should really not eat meat."

"Oliver." She glared at him, as Andy looked down at his burger.

"I don't want this anymore," he mumbled, pushing it away. She licked her lips, before glaring at Oliver once again.

"Thank you, Oliver," she mumbled, before grabbing his plate, and shooing me out. I shook my head, before I grabbed the plate at handed Andy my salad.

"How was I supposed to know he was goin' to not want his food?" Oliver asked.

"He's four," she mumbled. "Want do you think he's going to do. Monkey sees, monkey do." She rolled her eyes, before I took the ketchup from her, and finally got out the stupid ketchup. She rolled her eyes, before taking the bottle back out of my food.

"Lesson learned," Oli mumbled, taking a bit out of his food. We quickly ate, and than we split up the bill.

"I got yeh," I mumbled, going into my wallet, fishing out a ten and a five.

"Oliver should pay. He's the reason you had to eat Andy's food." I chuckled, looking at her.

"Yeah, but Oli's a twat, and don't know when to shut his trap."

"Aye!" Oli yelled, glaring at me from across the table. I smiled at him, before shaking my head. Andy looked over at us, before he crawled over laps, and snuggled up on us.

"I'm tired," he mumbled. Harley rubbed his back, looking up at me. "Can we go home soon?" he asked, yawning a little bit.

"Yeah, babe," Harley said in a low voice. I picked him up, propping him upright. He tucked his head into my shoulder, and rapped his arms around my neck. He had the same heat Har had, and it was always nice to feel. It could be below zero, and if you were next to Har, you would not need a blanket.

So, maybe that's not entirely true. But, they both were always warm.

The waitress came back with the change, and smiled at Harley and I. We smiled back, before getting our change, and we got up, waiting for the slow pokes. Once we had gotten out, Oliver looked at Andy, and me.

"He looks a lot like yeh, Tom," he said. I smiled, thinking that was good thing. Oliver smiled, before lighten one up. I glared at him, as Harley walked up to me, grabbing my hand. She swung it lightly in between up, and hummed some sort of song. Her little voice could be heard throwout the laud bustles of the overly dressed people, and even when people would bump into her, she still didn't get upset. I wondered how, and why. She used to blow up, and cuss, and throw a temper tantrum. She would accumulate a crowd, and she wouldn't care.

Maybe it was because of Andy, maybe it was because she needed to be an adult, or maybe she just needed to change.

I didn't like that she changed so much, but, I couldn't do anything about it. I slightly wondered what would happen if Andy wasn't in the room. Would she still be the same old Harley? Or the new one?

She was a Mom. She had to act tough around him. So that he wouldn't get upset. I shrugged. She was still Harley Ray. She would still have out burst, I'm sure. I just needed to know how.

We walked up to her apartment, her unlocking the door, letting them go first. We waited for the elevator to come, and Harley swung our hands again. Andy stirred in my arm, rubbing his head deeper into my shoulder.

Kyle - I think - walked up to Harley, smiling at her, his eyes scanning over her. I glared at him, my grip around her hand tightened.

"Hey, Harley," he said, smiling.

"Hi, Kyle." She looked back at me. "This is Tom, Andy's Dad, that's his brother Oliver, and a whole bunch of other people." She smiled at me, noticing my discomfort for him. I looked down, feeling his eyes burn holes into my head. This was a comfortable greeting.

"Hm," he mumbled, as I looked up. I got a good look at him. He had messy brown hair, that didn't look anything like "I made it messy on purpose," no. It was more of a, "I just woke up and am too lazy to even run my fingers through it," messy. It was gross, and I was glad my Momma made me brush my hair when I was little.

"Aye, yeh two comin'?" Oli yelled, keeping the door from closing. I looked over at Harley, as she nodded. Kyle fallowed us into the elevator, and stood by Harley too close. I wanted to be a tiger, and growl at him, before ripping out his guts, and shoving it down his throat.

I shook my head, before Harley stepped closer to me, rapping her arms around my waist. I couldn't help but feel the smirk on my face, as Kyle looked over at us. Oliver rolled his eyes at us, before the elevator opened, at we all got out. We made our way over to Harley's apartment, walking shuffling in. Harley still held onto my hand, before walking me to Andy's look, and I set him on his bed, as Harley took off his winter clothes.

He was quite big for a four year old. Harley looked over at me, before pulling the blanket over him. She walked over to me, giving me a quick kiss, before walking out the door. I looked down at him.

How did I miss the most important years of his life, his growth, his mental process. He was raised completely by his mom, without a dad. I sighed, running a hand through my hair. I walked out the door, closing it lightly, hearing the little laughs of my brother, friends.

That was the past, can't do back, only forward.

Oh, wowzers, this one is long.
Didn't mean for it to be this long :)
But, it look me about a couple of hours to do, with stops in between.

Grr, got to get up early tomorrow, and it's already 1.
That's not good.

I finally figured out what my brother does with my camera. He just makes stupid little youtube videos. Loser. Can't even buy his own, but can have a $400 camera, and a plane ticket to Alaska, that I'd die to have, both!
