Prisoner of Your Love

Cat Fight

Now that Oli was in close with Shadows and Gates, he wasn’t ever too surprised when either one of them would show up and share information that either regarded Adele or needed to be relayed to her. Today’s occurrence was the latter.

“Shadows wants to meet with Adele after dinner tonight,” Gates said as he trailed me in the line waiting for our serving of detestable chili. “Says he thinks he can use her situation to our advantage…you know as a means of escape.”

Oli didn’t mind being in prison. It was a place where violence seemed to thrive. But that wasn’t enough of a temptation to cause him to want to stay there much longer. The outside world had so much more to offer. Of course he’d be willing to comply.

“I don’t see how he could use that to escape. Shit, if he draws too much attention to her case she’ll be the one to get out and we’ll get nothing for it!” I said.

Gates shrugged as he sat down at a table. “I guess we’ll find out tonight.”

Adele didn’t bother moving or acknowledging Oli’s presence as he stepped back inside their cell. She had opted to skip lunch today, sincerely feeling too sluggish to walk down the hallway. It’s not like the food they served here was really worth it anyway.

“Shadows has something he needs to discuss with you,” he said curtly as he laid down on his bunk.

Adele rolled her eyes. “Aw, and here I thought that after I made my big confession I wouldn’t have to hear his voice ever again.” Adele cringed as she heard the bed springs shift below her.

“You do realize that if you refuse, you’ll be giving me an opportunity to make you suffer, correct?”

She propped her head up below the palm of her hand and stared at him with a bland expression. She knew she’d regret the words, but she just could care less. “Huh, I didn’t realize a criminal such as yourself required an opportunity.”

She watched with borderline insane amusement as a fire lit up his eyes and rage overcame his body. “You little bitch,” he growled, climbing the metal bars that led to her bed.

It wasn’t until he held her ankle in a bone-crushing grip that she realized she should try and defend herself. She flailed around at first, causing the mattress springs to quiver nonstop. Then she noted that her left foot was still completely free.

And with that she slammed her foot into his face knocking him down onto the floor. Adele felt a small grin spread across her face as she jumped off her bed and caught the nearest guard’s attention. Oli was pissed and would undoubtedly injure her if she stayed in the cell any longer.

“I need to speak with Shadows,” she said.

The guard looked familiar, so she assumed he was one of the men who had been at the party the other night. He even let her walk the halls on her own. Hope Shadows doesn’t mind me visiting him sooner than he expected, she thought as she approached his hall.

Matt hadn’t slept since this entire incident with Adele. He couldn’t help but feel the guilt consume his entire being. The same question played over and over in his mind.

Did I overreact?

Fate had clearly intended to bring them back together after all those years had passed between their first encounter in England. He suddenly sat up on his bed, filled with realization. He needed to win her back. He needed to show her how sorry he was. But most importantly, he needed to prove how much she meant to him.

Matt got up out of bed and told the guard that he was going to the bathroom. Instead, of course, he headed toward Adele’s cell, only to find Oli inside, punching the walls. Was he already too late? Regardless, Matt continued down the hall toward Shadows’ cell.

As much as he hated to admit it, he was sure that that was one of the only other places that Adele would be in the middle of the afternoon. However, he was quickly proven wrong once he heard Adele’s scream echo through the hollow prison walls.

He increased his speed as he rounded the corner and found a horrible sight.

Deb decided that she should give Shadows one last chance before she went and unleashed her rage upon his newest interest. She felt her eyes widen in utter surprise and coincidence once she saw Adele heading toward the same room, toward Shadows.

Adele glanced up and looked nearly as surprised, for different reasons. She’d been told that there were other female inmates, but this was the first time she’d ever seen one…up close.

Adele felt her lips form a friendly smile as she approached the woman. Sure, she looked a bit intimidating, but Adele had been sure that she’d seen the worse this place had to offer so far.

“Hey,” Adele said as she extended her hand, “I’m Adele.”

Deb stared at her as though she had lost all her marbles. “You’re in a fucking prison. Act like it,” she sneered.

Adele awkwardly dropped her hand back down to her side. “Nice to meet you too,” she mumbled, making a move to step past this stranger and finish her trek to Shadows’ room.

“Oh, you’re not going in there,” Deb said, standing in front of the door.

“And why not, dare I ask?” Adele questioned, rapidly growing annoyed with the female before her.

“Look, princess, Shadows is mine.” Adele’s eyes widened as her body racked with laughter.

“Are you insane? You can have him! It wasn’t my choice to get tangled up with the likes of him,” Adele cackled.

Deb’s eye twitched as she watched Adele make a spectacle of herself. “Don’t you dare act as if you’re too good for him, you ungrateful whore!”

With that being said, Deb lunged forward and got a good hold of Adele’s hair before shoving her fisted hand into Adele’s stomach. “Great,” she sputtered as she stumbled away from Deb, “I put all that work into getting out of a fight, only to end up in another!”

Adele used the backside of her wrist to wipe a small trail of blood that had dribbled out of her mouth. It had been so long since she had fought someone…

Life wasn’t easy during Adele’s time spent in France. If she wanted something, she had to fight for it. If she didn’t have enough money, she’d have to steal to survive. Upon arriving in the US, she finally saw the movie Aladdin and found that that movie always reminded her of her own life. The years spent living in poverty had toughened Adele.

One time, a man tried to have his way with her in the alleyway of a bar. It had been raining earlier in the day and mud was everywhere along the poorly paved alley. After kneeing him in the groin several times, she jumped over him as he fell to his knees and gripped his neck from behind as she proceeded to slam his face into the watery dirt over and over again until so much of his blood spilled into the puddle that it had become more red than brown. He didn’t die, but she was sure that he would never try raping a girl ever again.

Once she moved to California, all of that was buried away and locked within her past. She didn’t want to be that girl anymore. She wanted to civilized, respected, and affluent without having to kick someone’s ass to be considered such.

And Deb had just unlocked that former self.

Adele growled as she leaped forward and swung her fist making perfect connection with Deb’s nose, causing blood to splash onto the wall as her head spun to the side. She cried out in surprise, not pain, which was still loud enough to alert Shadows.

Curious as to what may be going on, he stepped out of the room he had been hiding in and investigated. Needless to say, he was surprised at the sight. “Gates, come check this shit out!” Synyster leapt to his feet and joined Shadows, pleased with the sexy catfight that was taking place before their eyes.

Deb crouched down and kicked forward, knocking Adele off balance. She stumbled backward, hitting the back of her skull against the concrete wall behind her.

Adele shook off some of the pain she was starting to feel, both from today and the beating she got previously, and returned to a fighting stance, reaching forward and slicing through Deb’s cheek with her fingernails.

She bit back a cringe upon feeling flakes of a stranger’s skin collect in her nails.

Deb spat on the ground as she glared at Adele. She reached into the back pocket of her jumpsuit and revealed a pocketknife. “Let’s see how well you can fight against a knife!” She sliced through the air until she came in contact.

Adele had shielded her face by crossing both of her arms in the shape of an ‘X.’ The blade sliced through the material on the jumpsuit and her skin, allowing blood to leak onto her body and the floor.

Deb had murder in her eyes, and Adele knew she couldn’t fight a knife. Her eyes drifted over to Shadows and Gates who stood firmly in place, enjoying this far too much to ever want to intervene.

“Shit,” Adele muttered.

Matt couldn’t stand to watch anymore, and that had to be more than enough confirmation that he had come to forgive Adele. He sprinted down the hall just as Deb was raising the knife to make another jagged incision.

He jumped onto his stomach so that he was sliding on his stomach down the hall and spun on his side just before reaching Deb so that he could use the force in his legs to knock her over, down at Shadows’ feet.

Countless emotions played out on Adele’s face as she stared down at Matt. She couldn’t help but smile as she kneeled down to his level and wrapped her bloody arms around his neck.

“I think you just saved my life,” she whispered.

“You’re welcome,” Matt chuckled as he ran his fingers through her hair and held her close, his mind crystallizing that moment for eternity.

“I’d like to say that I hate breaking up this touching scene, but the fact of the matter is, that would be a lie. Deb and I are going to have a word. But when I get back, all of you are going to get your asses in the other room and we’re going to have a discussion of our own,” Shadows grumbled as he dragged Deb away.

And even though Adele could’ve sworn that she hated that woman’s guts, she still felt some sympathy for her and feared what Shadows would do.
