Angels and Kings

She Slipped, Fell and...

I’d promised myself that I wouldn’t shed another tear over Peter Lewis Kingston Wentz III, as I left the merch table. That didn’t happen as I made my way onto the TAI bus, tears fell silently. Then I realized that he would look for me there. The only bus he wouldn’t look for me on was the GCH bus. I didn’t have a choice, I would try to avoid Travis. I didn’t want to hear I told you so or for him to go start more trouble with Pete.

I ran across the parking lot and onto the other bus. The guys were thankfully preoccupied, and as I ran past them they didn’t even acknowledge my presence. I didn’t see Travis anywhere he was probably still helping the crews pack up. I headed strait for my old bunk, as I pulled back the curtain a bunch of junk fell out. I picked that stuff up and put it into Callie’s old bunk, then moved the rest of the junk that had been put there for storage into Callie’s bunk too. Then climbed in and pulled the blanket over my head. I lay there for a few minutes praying for sleep to come.

Then I heard someone walking between the bunks. I held my breath. Then whoever it was stuck there hand into the bunk and dropped a book on my head “Ouch!” my hands flew over my mouth, and Travis pulled back the curtain.

“Non?” surprise was written across his face.

“Hey,” I said nervously.

“Uh what are you doing here?”

“Sleeping,” he didn’t smile, I remember what Callie had said at the merch table, how I looked like hell.

“What happened?”

“Nothing.”

“Come on Non,” he climbed into the bunk with me. It was really cramped. “Talk to your big brother.”

“Nothing,” I had to think fast, “It’s just that I realized that the tour is almost over, and we will all be splitting up.”

“Bull!” he said I heard a little anger in his voice. “Non tell me the truth,”

“I don’t wanna talk about it Travis. Just let me sleep please.” I tried to look as pitiable as possible.

“Fine,” he said climbing out of my bunk, “Do you need anything?”

“No thanks,” I smiled a little at his being so caring.

“I’ll be on the FOB bus okay,”

“Travis.”

“Yeah?”

“Don’t tell Pete I’m here,”

“Aren’t you a bit old for hid and seek?” he’d set a trap and I’d just fallen for it. “What happened?”

“It’s not…”

“Did he hurt you?” yes but not the way your probably thinking.

“No, I just needed a little space so I came here. Okay?” I was getting frustrated with my dear older brother.

“Okay,” he said letting it drop, he closed the curtain and I turned over, all of a sudden I could smell Pete again. It was comforting. I realized I was still wearing his hoodie from earlier. I prayed for sleep to come as tears soaked my pillow. This was getting ridiculous.

“Nonnie,” someone was shaking my shoulder. “Nonnie wake up.” I opened my eyes against their protest they felt swollen. Callie had opened the curtain of my bunk. “Move over. I looked all over for you before Travis told me you were in here. He’s a little worried about you.”

“I told him I was fine,” I said moving over enough for her to climb into the bunk next to me. I turned over and closed my eyes. I hadn’t slept at all last night in this small bunk, alone.

“Non, I talked to Pete. Yesterday he was really upset.” I turned over to look at her.

“Why is he upset, he was making out with his ex not me.”

“You really need to go talk to him. There may just be a perfectly good explanation.”

“Oh, what? She slipped, fell and her tongue went down his throat?” I watched as she tried not to laugh.

“It wasn’t what you thought.” she said once she got her self together. “Do you wanna end up as miserable as Travis and me?”

“No,” I said, “Who would?”

“Well than go talk to him. Communication is key in every relationship.” I looked at her then turned over

“Callie how can you tell me what to do when you can’t decide who you want, you are the last person who I should take relationship advice from.” I knew this might hurt her, but right now I just wanted her to go away, she wasn’t keeping with the best friend code. Making me feel like I was justified even if I was wrong.

“Ouch,” she said as if I’d physically hurt her. “That hurt,” I could tell by her voice that she was being sarcastic. “Your wrong though cause I can spot where there’s trouble in a relationship and I can also see how to fix them. It’s just that it only works on other’s relationships not my own.” closed my eyes this time I was going to sleep. “Nonnie you can’t avoid him the whole rest of the tour.” She was right. There were only four buses and I had to be on one of them.

“Why don’t you just tell me what he’s going to say? You obviously know already, or you wouldn’t be sending me over there.”

“It has to come from him.”

“Callie just tell me, god it’s not that hard to see that right now I’m miserable.”

“No. Stop being so stubborn all the time,”

“I’m not being stubborn, you are.” I shouted.

“No I’m doing the right thing just go talk to him.” She shouted back.

“Move,” she got down out of the bunk, I followed.

“Where are you going?”

“To talk to “Him”” I said. She just smiled

“Good.” I rolled my eyes this is the way we worked if I wanted her to do something I would have been just as annoying as she just was.

I made my way off the GCH bus, all the guys just looked at me not saying a word, I’m sure they heard a lot of what was said and just didn’t want to feel my wrath. I started across the parking lot we were clearly in a new city, and it was pretty early cause it was cool and misty out side. I climbed onto the FOB bus, Patrick sat in the common area playing a tune on a little portable keyboard, he said sometimes it helps him think. He stopped when he saw me. “He’s in the back, I don’t think he slept at all last night, what happened?”

“Don’t worry about it I’ll tell you later okay.” He just nodded and I headed for our room, Pete’s room. When I opened the door he was lying on the bed with his eyes closed wearing just a pair of pajama pants. Hemmy was lying on his chest. I sat on the bed and Hemmy crawled over to me, and started licking my face. I scratched him behind his ear.

“Non, it wasn’t what you thought.” He said, I wouldn’t look at him. “Non look at me,” I felt tears coming to my eyes.

“No, not now in front of him.” I thought as I blinked back tears. He moved so that he was sitting on his knees beside me. I let my hair fall like a curtain between the two of us.

“She just showed up, and said she wanted me back. I told her about you, that I was through with her and she jumped on me. That’s when you came in, it only lasted a second. I ran after you and when I got back I kicked her out. I swear that’s all that happened.” I was trying to think if he was telling the truth. Pete could read me like a book, but I was easily blinded by my love for him. It’s the curse of the McCoy’s when we fall we fall hard. “Non, Please look at me.” he pushed my hair behind my ear. My shoulders shook with the sobs I’d been trying to hold back. “Non, I’m so sorry,” he put his hand on my chin, and looked into my eyes. I looked into his blood shot eyes. He wiped my tears with his thumb.

All of a sudden I didn’t care about that kiss, or anything else that wasn’t in those eyes. My hand moved to the back of his neck and I pulled his lips to meet mine. The kiss only lasted a second. I know I gave in way too fast. I should have made him suffer a little like I did last night, but I couldn’t I had to make myself believe that he was telling the truth cause I love him. I don’t want to lose him.

He pulled me up to the top of the bed and started kissing down my neck. A moan escaped my lips, as his hand pulled his hoodie over my head. I though better of it though. I was still wearing the same clothes as yesterday and hadn’t showered since then either. I pushed his hands away, and he gave me a quizzical look. “I’m going to go take a shower, okay.” He gave a weak smile and nodded.

“Okay,” My last thoughts as I left him there on the bed were “How the hell do I get myself into these things?” I opened the small shower stall door and stepped in stripping. I turned on the water that never seemed to get hot enough, and I closed my eyes let it wash over me. I don’t know how long I stood there like that but I soon felt someone pull me back out of the spray. I knew it had to be Pete, cause he went strait for the spot right below my ear. I gasp from the pleasure that shot through my body. His arms wrapped around me pulling me back against his bare chest. I turned and met his eyes with my own. I kissed him, immediately running my tongue across his bottom lip. It was really starting to scare me how easily he could control me.
