Planning

I decided that before i went any further i should actually plan what i was going to write. It was no wonder my page was empty, i hadnt decided what i was writing about. Short story, novel, poems even and then what type. Horror, fantasy, science fiction? Do i write about something i know about? (not much). Or make up my own new world? How much research would i need to do? Why couldnt i be one of these writers that have a sudden brainwave and write twelve chapters without even thinking about it?
I thought back to when i was at college and what my teacher told me about planning and story setting, and couldn't remember a bloody thing!
I sat for an hour until i had half a page of scribbles and ideas. This was a start. Now if only i could mould this together.
I had written two chapters and was amazed at how it was flowing onto the page. The first character coming alive with each sentence. The scene beginning to be set. I was starting to feel more confident and happy with what I'd written.
